I heard the bikes were hacked remotely.
The mechanics forgot to install a firewall on the ecu itself, and the laptop that sets the map. They were hacked through wifi in the stands. You see it in the movies all the time - they get into banks, nuke facilities, Hillary clintons email etc. If you think a fuel map can't be penetrated you're naive and you should get back on your turnip truck.
I'll bet $20 right now the actual map shows up on wiki leaks in a couple of days.

Pulp show they mentioned water pump seal and also discussed the wrong map (lean fuel=heat).
From my couch it looked as though the water pump seal or shaft failed and they over heated.
An abnormal amount of those first 2014 pump shafts did fail, looks like maybe the team received a bad batch?

Let's never point our finger at an individual unless we have proof.

What do you all think? Any insiders have the goods?

There is no way they forgot to change the map from Colorado, the engine would not have made ot through the first lap of practice.

There is no way the tune was that far off and they were still running in the front. Power would be way down

To ping itself apart in 20 minutes the bike would be running like shit. Head gasket or water pump would be my guess

all the guys that rode it, nobody had ridden one faster.

I am aware that turbo applications dont apply, but the logic of where you really need to be, as opposed to where t you think you need to be is the same.. nothing ever got faster using less fuel.
No the logic of where you need to be does not apply between boosted and NA applications. If an NA engine is in the high 10's it is blubbering worse than a freshman doing their first beer bong. Google some AFR dyno charts and you will understand.

Because by your logic all you have to do is add a shit ton of fuel to make power....
