Really enjoyed reading this entire thread. I'm actually in the middle of completely rebuilding a 2003 KX125 from the frame up for my son and used a lot of your build ideas. We race the Southern Off-Road Championship Series, www.sorcs.net, and several GNCC's. He races for Team Kawasaki of Statesboro. He's moving up from the mini class and coming off a 2015 KX100. He's only 14 but 5'8" so he out grew mini's. We thought he was going to move up to a 2015 KX250F. He started practicing and doing a few races on my KX250F and he was doing OK, complained about the weight and not being able to "flick it around". He borrowed a friends RM125 and DESTROYED our test track and came back with a huge grin on his face. I went and bought a donor KX125 that week for 850 bucks, RUNNING!!

Total frame off restoration. I just got the motor back from Eric Gorr with the 144 kit. We added a 7oz flywheel weight. Brand new Hot Rods crank and bottom end. Sent suspension off to Factory Connection. Full Pro Circuit exhaust with shorty 304. IMS oversized tank. EVERY bearing replaced. Powder coated frame. Polished swing arm. All new controls. All new plastics with updated front fender and number plate with custom graphics. Still waiting on new set of DNA wheels, black with green hubs.

What year is your fender a front plate?

JimmyB, the world needs more dads like you who go out and restore things rather than buying junior a 7k four stroke that he doesn't need. Please keep that build updated.

Well it's pretty much done. Wating on the Boyesen clutch and ignition coversm bark busters, case saver, rear brake, and frame guards.

What jetting are you running with your 144 kit? I have Gorrs set up also and it's breaking up on top. I'm in Md at sea level, similar to you. Just curious what you ended up at?

Camber, right now it's at the stock setting and running great. Changing the needle to lean it out just a bit for a little more bottom end snap. We only race hare scrambles so we don't see much at the top but at WOT it screams. I'll try to post a video of him testing it out at our practice track. Also, we're running 50/50 C-12 and 93 pump gas mixed with Castor 927 at 4 oz's per gallon.

KX125rider, LOVE it....best 500 bucks we spent on the bike. I weigh 210, my son weighs 150. I rode it the other day for a minute and the power was ridiculous. We did everything Eric Gorr recommended, Pro Circuit Pipe with Shorty 304 silencer, Vforce3 reeds, left jetting at stock setting. We added a 7oz fly wheel weight.. According to Gorr's website his 144 puts out as much peak power as a stock 250F.

Any one have recommendations for a part number for this pin? Is it a standard brake pin? Can’t find anything in diagrams.

I wanted to reply now that this thread is in the Bike Build section. Please let me know if anyone may have an idea of part number. Thanks!

It's part of the carrier and not sold separately (bummer). I just cleaned mine, put a coat of grease on it and slid it into the rubber boot. Might as well clean the rubber boot as well.

Current Update: Bike is in pieces, but slowly building it back. I have been stashing parts for another project that I will be beginning soon. This one may have to find a new home. Stay toned!

I recently came across some rare parts thanks to another Vital member. I'm leaning towards keeping this bike more and more each day. Here are a few pictures of brand new PC clamps and JD electronic Ignition. These are the same ones that PC ran.

The triple clamps might as well be the "cherry" to top-off this build! Excellent job, Sir.
