Spark Plugs For 2007 Suzuki RM 125

I recently got a 2007 RM 125 off Craigslist. I went to the local dealer to get spark plugs and they said they were $35 a piece! There on Rocky Mountain ATV for $28 and Dennis Kirk for $27. Does any one know of a cheaper alternative? They are NGK Resistor Sparkplug R6918B-8 Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

I just sold my RM125 and have a couple of the R6918B-9 for sale on Ebay $29.99 for 2 w free shipping. Otherwise, rockauto.com has had the best prices.

What's the difference between the R6918B-8 and the R6918B-9?

br8es/eg works just fine but you always run the risk of the the electrode braking off into the motor. i dont know why suzuki demands these pricey plugs but anything but the pricey ones had the tendency to rattle apart and drop into the motor.

I don't have any experience with an 07. Mine was an 02 and it had some detonation issues. I sent the head to Varner and he reshaped the dome and set the squish to help. He told me to run 96 plus for octane and the expensive plug. The opinion that he gave me was that those engines needed the extra octane and the good plug. There are more than a few people who have broken electrodes in RM's.

THIS explains it better than I can. My bike called for the 8 but I got a great deal on a large box of 9's so I gave them a try. It didn't foul and, I never had any issues doing so.

I'd run the expensive plug. Some guys run the cheap standard plugs and never have any problems. Between 95-07 I had 3 or 4 of the electrodes fail on the cheap plugs on rm 125s. It eats the piston and chews up the head usually before it blows out the exhaust. I did some research after the last failure and started running the 30 dollar suzuki plug.

It has to do with how the plugs are made and the cheaper plugs electrode cannot handle the high resonance the 125 makes at high rpm.

I think if you're a trail rider the cheap plug is fine. But if you ride a 125 like it's supposed to be ridden you will be money ahead with the oem plug.

The $20 you save on a br8es will be a good start on the $500 you need on engine repairs when it fails.

It's a cheap insurance to get the proper plug. Because of aggressive ignition aND poor fuel, regular plugs often fail in rm125s

Hundreds of hours, never failed once. Ripped up about $1400 worth of transmission parts in one race season on 2 bikes.

Here's my knucklehead at 14 flogging his 125, like fingernails on a chalkboard to me! LOLhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tGC2mRqdDc
