Too many ad breaks!!!

Edited Date/Time 5/29/2016 10:42pm
Driving me crazy having the race constantly interrupted with all these ad breaks. I would rather pay for ad-free coverage of the motos than watch a free stream with 5-6 ad breaks per race. The mxgp series shits on the ama coverage in terms of that. Can't they put more ads during the pre and post race and keep the actual race ad free?

But you still miss the racing! Its ridiculous. 35min of racing and you barely get the half of them to watch!

just mind numbing.. wish they would just show the feed online.. whats the point for International .

At least it works this week, but jeez. No wonder the TV loves NFL , a game designed around tv advertising,

Lucas ads seem a bit dated especially the Bailey one.

Eiither the director read this thread before the 4th moto or they locked themselves out of the TV truck, because I timed just over 31 minutes of uninterrupted race coverage! Grinning

Couldn't have been a bigger contrast to the earlier races.

I've had a tough time really getting into these first two races because of the terrible coverage.

Go riding if you got the day off from work. Record it and fast forward through the commercials and filler material. You can watch 4hrs of coverage in under 2hrs. Hopefully someday they film one of these things from the ground looking up instead of zooming down from higher vantage points. That coverage did not do justice to the hills, jumps, ruts, and chug holes on that track.

Well the ads are a necessary evil it seems. But the broadcasts have been really bad so far. Due in large part to camera placement. Just like last weekend at Hangtown, they shot too much stuff from either in front or from behind. When you have a much hyped part of a track ( in this case the 130' triple step up - not sure why J-wag kept calling it 180 ' - you would think they would place camera(s) to showcase it. They way they showed it you had no perspective on how high and far they were launching. At the track standing near it, it was almost surreal watching the insane hang time and how far of a launch it is. They really needed a camera shot from the side. They even could have had a roving hand held do it.

The same thing with the new rhythm section. That section gave every rider out there fits all day. I saw Stewart almost endo in practice there. Even guys like Kroc and Dungey never got it figured out like Forkner did. The kid was awesome when he ran his triple / triple line thru there! But you had to see it from the side to see just how difficult it was and see so many mistakes being made thru it by the riders.

Very disappointing. I don't know if it is a budget issue where they simply don't have enough cameras ... or the director is just clueless.

Or the Troy Lee race team one with Ping still the team manager and the team on 06 CRF's....

I wonder how Lucas Oil can still run that ad now that TLD is KTM and not Lucas Oil anymore?

This, everyone defends the big jumps because it draws in spectators. Unless you are there in person the TV angles give you no idea on how impressive these things are. You would think DC would point this out to the producers but guess it's not possible to change things?

We don't get the ad breaks on the live broadcast here in NZ. When you guys go to an ad break, all we get is continued coverage without having to listen to Jason and Grant.

In between motos we get the ad breaks though.

I'd like to see the split screen during ads, so we could at least have the option of seeing the action we're missing, albeit we might have to squint. I'm sure it doesn't pay near as well from an monetary standpoint when selling ad revenue.

Same, I watched all four motos on promotocross.com.

There were loads of ad breaks/promotions/interviews etc during the first three races, particularly during the 250 class, but the last race of the day was shown almost in it's entirity.

I used an online stopwatch to record each break in the coverage once the gate dropped.

We did it yesterday when the 450 where racing. The outcome was +9 minutes and we left the last one out. (Between the post race interviews). Be happy that you can watch the racing now. The F1, NASCAR, INDYCAR has also commercial breaks.
