I/they have just as much right to BOO as you do to CHEER.

How else do fans voice their displeasure at an event?

the Reed booing at Vegas last year was pretty intense.

funny thing is for the rider introductions, everyone in the stadium booed reed. then, every lap when he came by our section, everyone booed.

as soon as he passed windham like a joint, everyone in the stadium cheered him and there wasn't one single BOO when he was on the podium.

supercross fans are a fickle bunch. it's love/hate. nobody can just respect or kinda like someone. they are either a die hard fan, or a die hard hater.

Not all supercross fans are like that, I am deffinitly not a Reed fan but I can and do respect him as one of the top riders in the world and I'm not going to boo him for any reason.

I think some of the boo's can be contributed to the drunken idiots in the stands. I had about 8 guys across the aisle from me that were all obviously drunk and booed at everything including the Toyota bubble suit races. Some people can't control themselves when they drink.

IF i was at a race in the past and Booed RC......looking back on it now , i don't know how i could live with myself hehe. Honestly , look at what that little dude did for the sport of MX/SX.......how could you friggin boo that guy? I know that a lot of fans that we're booing RC before in the past , booed him , because they we're sick of seeing him win all the time. How lame is that?

Not that it matters, but it was at one of the Anaheim rounds that RC took Travis out right after the over-under bridge and got booed in a big way.

I ve been a Jets fan all my life. They are not a winning team, at least not in my lifetime.
I can't think of a game I went to where the fans didn't boo different players at the time.

Like mentioned above, it's part of the experience as a fan to voice your opinion.
I still wouldn't feel comfortable booing Chad or anyone for that matter, I don't think its unique to our sport by any means.

I think like peelout said we (hardcore) are passionate bunch of fans.
I think he hit the nail on the head, in that, we do have riders we love and hate, but I would venture and say for the majority of us, we LOVE the sport. So if a great move was put on one of our riders, we love it as good racing. Because most of us have had similar experiences on the track, and we can relate to this.

Another thought. How many stick and ball fans do think play in a competitive setting, in many cases with the entire family, every weekend? For many of us this is our life. haha We ride, we spectate. I think that makes us unique from other sports.

Booing just lets others know who the weak minded folks are who like setting an example for the kids that acting ignorant is OK. "Boo. Look at me I am so ignorant."

a lot of people do it to fit in.

like all the flat-billers that show up to the Anaheim rounds... God knows they aren't doing something because they like/dislike it... they're all just trying to fit in.

which is why booing, and wearing flat-billed hats, will never fade out.

I think the crowds love to hate reed after he retires he will be looked upon as a great rider by everyone. That just seems to be human nature.

I will agree that in some markets they promote the booing and believe having "villains" is a great idea and it works for them at the end of the day in profits. People love that stuff like WWF and ?? Our sport draws all types of people which is great and crazy comes in all types. Silly Football, soccer, baseball and a lot of sports accept it and it is no big deal. Its the people that are just being rude that is b.s.
