Parked next to a 45-50 year old dad at the race track. He was driving a construction truck and looked to be an electrician with those tube benders and rolls of wire in the bed. He was riding a brand new 450 while his kid was on a ktm 65. I was watching Dad and he was pretty fast. Then didn't see he come around then I went to the truck. Dad came in after his moto broken up holding his arm and looked to be in pain. I helped him load both bikes and he left to go to the hospital. Well, I left the track thinking why do guys his age need to race? Seriously, he makes his living with his hands and has a young boy and probably a wife and mortgage he is responsible for. Sad to be in his shoes. Men need to step up and know when to say they are done. I think the sport should not allow old guys out on the track. I sure hope he has insurance because he looked to be self employed. Just a note please be careful out on the track and know your limitations. Every racer needs to evaluate his situation and ask if racing two motos is worth the danger. Not sure why any of find is necessary or fun to race motorcycles. Some man at work saw my bike in the truck and we started talking it up. He wants to buy a bike and race. I suggested he buy a dual sport because mx is way too dangerous. MX bikes in general are way too dangerous. I'm seriously thinking dual sporting is the best way to enough motorcycling.

Hey, Sawblade! Take a few seconds and tell us about your sense of humor. That's what I thought..you don't have one!Grinning

yosmithy is being funny, at least from my perspective.

bigA must work for green peace. I honestly did think this was a joke at first it was so ridiculous. Now I realize there are people who voted for Obama on purpose!
What choice did people really have. There was no way in hell I was voting for Palin. Seemed to be the less of two evils to me.

No joke. Some should be more serious about the aftermath of racing rather than how clean and trick your bike looks. I guess it's taboo to talk about crashing.

I voted for Bush. Bush was an outstanding president for those first four months. How did I know it would go down hill so fast. I do like Bush's stubborness, it's very sexy.

Oh yeah...I ENJOYED....a new Shoei helmet with my Bush $600 dollar stimulus check. Can't bash him for giving back to stimulate the economy.

Big Lenny,

Congrats being 54 and still riding. Thanks for admiting racing motocross scares you. Because you only ride once or twice a month you reduce your chance of injurying yoruself. Now if you raced every weekend and actually PUSHED yourself to improve yoru abilities I would be talking to a dead man. Please guys, don't say you RACE when you really just ROLL around the track.

mx is just part of ones personality, its that simple. i will know when its time to quit, im 51. practice two days a week, race about two events a month. still find it the best sport for me.

I'm not trying to be funny. I'm serious. I have a stable of two strokes and my dad always admires them and says, "When we going riding", well I love my dad too much to allow him to throw a leg over my bikes. His bones are brittle and would crumble in a crash. No dad, sorry your days are done. My dad taught me how to ride in the front yard. I watched him race at Indian Dunes and Saddleback. He is still DAMN FAST... in his MIND but he doesn't realize his Indian Dunes days were 30 years ago. Tracks have changed, bodies have changed..if dad expires from this world because of a motorcycle accident my mom doesnt get his pension...mom would be broke...then she will have to move and live with me...yeah pops will NEVER ride again i got to keep him in healthy shape!
One of the best gifts a father can give his son is to share his passion with him so they can enjoy it together. Who the fuck are you to deny that to your father for his own good? What a selfish, ungrateful little piece of shit!

Learning to manage risk is an essential skill that allows young men to become old men someday. If you ever have a son of your own, he’ll be a huge pussy unless he finds a real male role model elsewhere, like his stepdad.
