Rocrac knows this is what Podium 1 in Indiana does. They have a good track and usually good turn-outs without the AMA sanctioning most of their events. They don't even participate in D15 and still have good support; well its no wonder they don't support D15 but thats another story.
Because of my 13 yr old sons size he will be racing the B class this year against some of these guys ....and guess what he's excited!!!
If these guys think they have an easy year in the B class they are gonna have a rude awakening....
Kevin did NOT qualify last Sunday in +30 B/C. He went in +25 and +35 (I think).[/quote:ni63tdc8]
Good for him if so.

It was a size 11 Asics shoe, brown and tan, and well-aimed.
thats the 300,000 dollar, motorhome version.
No one will be racing locally? come on does any think for a minute that riders ONLY care about being pro? for everyone of those guys there are 15-50 content to race locally and enjoy what they do.......AMA needs to remember that, this system has been tweaked to the catering of this national system so much they dont see the forest because of the trees. The system will be fine, if riders choose to "stay away from local races" (avoid advancement) that will only work for a remote few, since local races give them the platform and knowledge to be able to compete at the level they do once they get there.
you know whats really funny, is if a local race pays a good purse, these so called poor riders who can't find a ride will show up and make some cash. It happens every day, and lets face it, riders getting to the ranks as beginner pros, it isn't supposed to be easy.
"local racing" is being undermined by this type of thinking and it's gotten worse the last 5 years.[/quote:1rybxv29]
Agree, 100%, wardy. Local racing is altogether different, for one, locally there usually isn't enough riders, 5??, to award advancement points (I hope that is still the rule). And you're corect, lots of money to be made in the A class for local guys, if that is the goal.
District 11 (Ohio) has always advanced agressively. This is nothing new for us.
You can't handle the truth
haha....that "lil" guy is 5' 8" and 142 lbs, he's not gonna get hammered. He has raced since he was 4 yrs old and holds 2 national championships. he has been riding a 125 since last year...its his decision. He is also racing both 12-16 and 14-16 schoolboy. But thanks he's racing his first "b" race at Whitney next week.
When those riders came to those races, they were then scrutinized by those district rules. Enter the problem, most disticts advancement were not done the same. Our goal was for AMA to enforce an advancement system across the board for all districts to do it correctly, this was ALL WE ASKED FOR. TWO count them 2 ama staff people ago decided "oh no" we can't just do it that way, we have to take it over and do it in house. At that same time they decided to try to re-invent the wheel with scoring software and updateing in house processes also.
Our or at least my desire was for all districts to use this system, and for AMA to handle the NON organized areas, hence not putting the full burden on the AMA. Well here we are, the people who built the process are gone, until last year sometime most at staff didn't even know what was promised to us in the past.....mainly a list to advance to the districts BEFORE it was public. This to make sure there were no errors and or needed additions or subtractions to that list.
Ask the folks over in Iowa what happened to thier advancement process when a rider complained to AmA, needless to say they had the right numbers, and he still was allowed to race B. This was wrong.
We decided here to allow ama to do what they need to do and make a list then use that for advancement. we have posted up C-B, but not b-a yet and we asked again today for that list since it seems there is a list out there.....(postboard rumor)
Here is the problem, we realize that AMA does not want a pissin match with these "big amatuer teams", which puts them in a bad light with mx sports. We also realize that we made the 15 age limit 16, and I asked for this to include 2007 but we just couldn't do it that way. The problem is simple, if they don't move the people who are to be moved then what rules do any of us have to follow in the book? The people who do this work are handling a mess which was made by the prior inhabitants of that office and no matter what have to do the dirty deed. They are finding out what guys like dave arva and myself and a few others who have done this a long time is that job sucks.
But what sucks more is if just because someone belongs to a "team", follows the national amateur events, etc etc. gets a pass, or worse yet if the whole process is "held up" for those reasons, what the hell does that say about AMA's ability to perform in the future? It's easy to sit and bitch that AMA sucks, and there is always people who will hate AMA, hell I get so dam pissed about it myself, but at least we are to this point? At least it's moving forward and there will be hiccups but damit where would we be if it just stayed the way it was?
Our district lost a shit load of oppurtunity racing at LL simply because we had a system that work, riders moved, rode in other states for years so to avoid the system...... We had to have a system because of the amount of riders who race here.
i would bet that if a rider has the point average from last year, no one has the "crown" that says "nope we are not advancing you", it has to be done, and it has to be by appeal to not be done. Anything else and you will see more then just a few parents complaining. The rule book has to be followed.............or it will be a problem.
Like i said before, AMA amatuer racing is not "only LL" in fact that is a very small part of AMA Amatuer racing no matter what many may think. While on the topic, rules have to be for all and all the time................always have i had problems with the "national supplemental rules" but thats another 5 pages, but at least today those "supps" are not making the rules "less".
ALL D Class Riders:
4 wins or 5 second place finishes or any combination of the two and you get advanced. If you're fast enough to win the D Class, then you need to start the series in the C Class. If a rider has previously won a championship (any series any class) that rider cannot ride a D class. When you get advanced, you don't take your points with you. The D Class is a beginner class and a chance to try racing to see if you like it. It isn't a place to plan on winning a Gold Series championship.
Youth D Class Riders:
You can race a 2nd class, but if you place in the "TOP 30%" you will be out of the D Class. This Youth Rule is based on 10 rider minimum class.
yup, people tried that... didn't work, D11 ain't that dumb.

I'm messing with you. I agree completely with everything that you are saying, wardy. The AMA has little credibility, as is, if they bend on advancement they're done.

*sigh*
Exactly rocrac. The only tracks my friends and I race at in Indiana nowadays are Podium 1 and Motoland. I ride or race at Wildcat Creek MX quite a bit just because its 15 minutes away. Its sad but there its not hard to have a private track as good or better than many of the public tracks in Indiana. Me and many other Indiana riders would rather drive 3-5 hours to Michigan (Red Bud, Log Road, Baja, Dutch) or all the way to southern Indiana to Podium 1 to practice or race. Or even go to Illinois (Mt. Carroll, Joliet, South Fork) etc. D15 needs way better management and to put a certain promoter in its place because they consistently have races on poorly maintained tracks which sucks because no one wants to go to this promoters' tracks and they take just enough riders away from other good promoters that no one prospers.

I will say the Indiana state races are averaging around 300 riders per event. Considering the state of our sport and economy..
See you at the GOOD tracks in D15

This an excellent of why the AMA is so successful... they are flexible and customer oriented.
Yea and I bet 95% of them from Kokomo and North.

IF this is true, it will be interesting to see "why" and "WHO" decided this one? Since if this can be just "changed" or not adhered to wow I don't know what to say.
How stock do you think the "big teams" bikes really are anyways?
I know one FL mom who will sure make it her mission to make sure the rules are applied...Right SS
Hey, it doesn't affect me and/or my team, but my view on the situation is; if you get a top 10 in a class at any national then you should be moved up. I think what PJ Larsen and Darren Durham are doing is the right thing. Spend your maturing time in the A class. Don't hang around in the B class year in and year out, because you didn't get top 10 at LL.
There are quite a few kids that come to mind in this situation and I am not going to name names, but it's pretty lame that kids like Bagget, Barcia, Craig, ect... just come off 80's and have to ride against kids that have been on big bikes and in the B class for 2 + years.
Ryan Holliday said the rules will be enforced next year when they make the proper changes. This year they would have to move up way to many kids that race AMA events weekly to the A class and he said the majority are just not ready. So his point to all of this is; he can't single out Baker, Wilson, Pike, ect... until the rules change this offseason.
