... to build under 1 minute lap tracks?

Seriously, how many tracks have even been above 1 minute lap times for the top guys?

You go to an event now and boom ... the Heats are over with, even though you feel like you just got there ... and you realize there's nothing left but a couple of 12-15 minute Mains.

A lot of people not going to the races this year.

They have very little time to build a track. They do the best they can with the time given.

HUH? Shorter events because of lazy f's at home on the couch?
Super Bowl was the second most watched TV show of ANYKIND, except the last episode of M*A*S*H*.
Ad rates were 2 mil/30 sec spot. All matter of "dollars and sense"; especially dollars. SX can't compete with the SuperBowl.
I'm just glad we get what we get..even if I'm a lazy fk at home on couch....nice and comfy watching what I watched in person or listen on the podcast. Nice crowd last nite of 67,000+.

DW actually lengthened the track Stewart designed to get the lap times up.
