Compared to nothing? Or, Compared to the Leatt?

Compared to the Leatt and possibly to nothing at all.
Here are some Indy pics of the EVS. There is no front shelf so it won't protect against hyperflexion and the plastic rear shelf looks very tall with no height adjustment so I think it will be hitting the rider's helmet when riding in the attack position. The shoulder wings appear as though they will hit your shoulders when you lift your arms, once again causing the brace to hit your helmet. The neck port offers no size adjustment.
Also, the last 1.25" of the Leatt's rear shelf has a weak section moulded into it so that it will snap off instead become a shovel during a crash on your back and the fabric cover is designed to capture the broken pieces. You can see it in the smashed Leatt pic above. The EVS's massive uncovered plastic rear shelf looks downright dangerous.

thats pretty much the same spots where mine broke about 2 months ago
I love our leatt braces and will continue to purchase them until someone comes out with something better not cheaper.
The one you have on, from Indy, is still a plastic model and not the finished product, no? I thought that's what they said.

You say that you would not buy anything untested but then you say that you love your Leatt?? I don't understand? The Leatt was never tested for motocross by independent 3rd parties.
Small info about the law suits: don't worry guys about those, EVS, Alpinestars and Fro are out of those. No worries. Wait when the A-Stars comes out sometimes this Summer, you will see how a safe product can be produce when it is well thought and designed over 4 years and more.

That's not me in the pics but I would hope that there was some flexibility incorporated into the leading edge of the rear shelf. They still need to add a solid front shelf to protect against hyperflexion. It looks only 50% developed, imo.

I understand what you say. But you will see also with another brace, same design for the front. We already have the sternum doing most of the job there and you don't need something huge that could actually hurt you more by breaking your sternum or doing bad collarbone breaks. What's on the front part is actually way sufficient.
I don't know Shenzi. What's on the front looks like nothing more than a rubber neck roll. I think EVS, in the frenzy to rush a product to market, may be getting ahead of themselves a little.

Totally agree with you CamP.....looks like just a rubber neck roll reversed and that opening attaches to the back part of this gizmo....not like just wearing a neck roll only where it attaches up front.
But as think CamP said, something is waaay better than nothing. Buddy has Leatt; worth every penny to him and doesn't feel it riding....what about those that wear chest protectors still like with their Leatts? Can't do that with the EVS it appears.
Pit Row
I'll stick with my leatt.

The way I understood the guys at Indy the ones they had there were just pre production painted model and the production ones would have a rubber coating OVER the plastic, not made of rubber. I was not at all impressed with the evs. When I mentioned no adjustability they said thats why they have a couple different sizes. Thats good but it still should be adjusted to each rider. EVS has some good products but I think they rushed this one.
I still maintain the EVS was pretty much just a rip off of Leatt. But, that integrated model is an innovative change. That took some thought.
I think you need to do some research on that.
I don't understand why the Church of Scientology doesn't have more followers in the US...
