So I'm restoring this 79 KX 125. I took my swingarm and put it in this degreaser I just started using. It's supposed to be great stuff. Well it is. it took the gold off and I have a silver swingarm.
Do any of you know, is the gold on the swingarm paint or anodizing?

Since I was an official Kawasaki dealer in 79 I can tell you that the company line was anodized. But I was and still am an official dumbass when it come to things like anodizing and painting so just go get something that looks close. <img class= " title="Smile">

Get an Eastwood catalog, they have a home anodizing kit if I remember correctly.

I didn't but Heindl and I found a do it yourself site last winter and it looked super easy.
Maybe he has the link yet.

Oh I was going to say that it was anodized, because that is how you get the aluminum to take the dye. In fact you may just be able to dye it again, because the anodized surface on the aluminum would still be there I think.

It's here in Des Moines at my place.

I get over to Amboy a few times a year, could throw it in the van.
