Hmmm, who gets to pay for the swingarm. Probably a spendy item.

That happened to me. A guy got his foot caught the same way with my bike. Somebody yelled get a hacksaw. I yelled get a crescent wrench. We used a crescent wrench to remove the wheel and he was fine.

It's happened to me BITD. In the twin shock days, so my foot was wedged between the shock and the tire, so a crescent wrench did the trick.

My old man broke his ankle 25 years ago when a tree he cut down sprung back and smashed it between the butt of the tree and the stump. The EMS guys wanted to cut his cowboy boots off but he said no way, too expensive. He made them cut the stitching down the side then pull the boot off.

How was the rider's foot, leg and ankle?

I have seen them use the Jaws of Life in NASCAR. Amazing what they can cut through.

I ssw that a policewoman got drunk and ran over 4 and hit 6 motorhomes in the infield at 2am,after the sx.

Happened to me at Gatorback. First turn crash, my leg went through the swing arm of another kids CR 80. They let the air out of his tire to get me out.

He raced the qualifier with a flat and still qualified.

If they couldnt wait for someone to take the wheel off, the rider with the leg caught must have been screaming bloody murder.

As a Firemedic all I can say is every extrication senerio is different . With out seeing what they had it's hard to say what I would do. But my first thought would be to either remove the wheel or cut the spokes . I trust they did what was best though

This same thing happened to my dad on his '79 Elsinore CR125. He came very close to loosing his foot. Real moto boots (likely Hi-Point then) weren't as big of a deal for average Joe trail riders and he was wearing work boots, but between the swing arm, the dual shocks, and the chain and sprocket, it almost chewed his foot off. Oddly enough, the riding area was across the street from a hospital. For you WA folks he was riding at 80 acres, where Microsoft main campus now sits, where I learned to ride, across the street from Group Health Hospital.

i got my right arm sucked into the rear wheel of a yz426 going about 3rd gear tapped. Drug me a good 100' before the guys bike came to a stop. Him and two other guys had to put the bike in neutral and bang the bike back and forth to unwedge my arm. Didn't break anything but was missing a lot of skin and had rubber burned into my rib cage and inner arm. Hurt for a while.

Yeah when it says:

"Police: Woman crashed into....."

That's a little different than:

"Policewoman crashed into....."

Didn't you at least get a snap of his leg in there?

Well he aint racing the next qualifier with that.....

Wait I'm a little confused , what happened to the policewomans leg? She got it stuck where?

Yeah, not in a gruesome sense, but to understand how exactly the jaws of life were the only option.
