It was the lady that my wife had been taking dinner to. She was a year older than my wife and I. We both knew her very well, as she and her sister owned and operated the day care that our children went to. Until my children started kindergarten, she was almost more a part of their life than my wife and I was...
She died on Dec. 27...it was nice to see her make it past Christmas for her kids.
She was 36 years old and has a 10 year old son and a 3 year old son. Her husband was devastated.
I can't imagine watching my wife being laid to rest.
I feel for her husband and children. Her husband said that last night he heard their oldest son start crying and then he came and got into bed with him.
9 months ago, she was a healthy lady (she was a little over weight)...and then they found cancer....
I hope that everybody has a great new year and cherishes each and every one of their family members. You never know when it will be their time...or yours.
Sorry for being such a downer...

Let the dad lean on you in this time of grief, he's gonna need some friends and a lot of time.
And very well said in your first post.
My recommendation would be just to be a good listener. He's probably got a ton of things he's processing right now. And your right every day truly is a gift, so cherish every day.
