Sold my 2011 kx250f. Found these two bikes at the same price (4000) both are VERY clean... I'm stuck, gonna pick one of them up tmrw.

Yamaha, bulletproof engine, better engine, better suspension, and you will get used to the bike. Suzuki will handle a bit better.

'14 YZ450's had some issues. Mainly rod breakage, frame cracks, elec. gremlins, shift stopper bearings. Yamaha doesn't acknowledge any crank problems, but the part number for the rod, and crank changed for the '15. So there you go...

Looks like the YZ has a little more time on it than I thought. The zook has 15 hrs. Unless the yz is that much better of a bike I think the safer bet is the Rmz.

My '14 was a beast, and I liked it a lot but couldn't deal with the potentially catastrophic failures. I am now on a '16 YZ250 smoker. Though I do have friends with the '14 YZ450 with no problems. ymmv

I believe you are talking about the 250f , the 450 had no such problems .

Didn't mean anything by it , I just haven't heard of any major problems on the 450 . I read that a while ago and seems like just a few people had problems, hopefully not me too . haha

Buddy has the yz, I have the rmz. Both great bikes, and I have spent a lot of time on both. Yz haso more explosive power, but vibrated a bit more. Rm power was very smooth, and linear. Like a pussycat down low, like a lion wide open. It also Felt heavier to put on stand, but lighter on track. Rm corners better, but the yz is more stable in a straight line.

Tranny in my rm had a lot of false neutrals if you don't shift with purpose.

Also depends on your physical size, age, and skill level. How much modding you might do, and type of riding. How often you ride, and how 'hard' you are on them too.

I second the opinion above. I had a YZ and really liked it and recently went to an RMZ which I also really like. RMZ turns like butter. Both are great bikes. I recommend going with the bike with less hours on it. The RMZ will need suspension work done, but once you do that you will love it. RMZ engine is just as bulletproof as the YZ is. Again, both are great bikes. If I had to choose, I'd just take the bike with less hours. Can't go wrong with either.

I too have had some false neutrals on the RMZ - like you said, gotta shift with a purpose. I have heard to get a different shift lever, seems like a cheap fix.

I love my 14 YZ450, best bike I've owned and have touched nothing. Last Zook I rode was a 12 and it cornered great but whole package not on par with the new style yamaha

Just picked up a 14' YZ450. Im coming off a 2011 RMZ 450 and honestly the yamaha feels great! The suzuki handled great like everyone says but it just lacked power. The yamaha once you get it set up right, will handle just as good if not better than the suzuki. Plus you have the tuner which is an awesome feature. I love mine!
