how to keep sprocket anodizing from wearing

I'm currently in the market for some sprockets and i have always used the standard renthal aluminum sprockets without anodizing/ grey. I want to go for black but Im trying to avoid the anodizing from wearing where the chain guide is. I was wondering if anyone had any success in keeping this from happening. I figure I could trim the plastic guide back a bit (not that it rubs) to give the sprocket some room from the dirt and mud that ended up there or would this be futile? Im looking to rig up a water system for my truck this winter so i could clean my bike at the track and maybe cleaning the guide out after every moto would work? Any info would be great!!

Try an Acerbis, Polisport, TM, or other total plastic guide.

This....I have a TM guide and black Sunstar sprocket. So far, it hasn't worn the finish off.

Chain guide shouldn't touch the sprocket. When it shows wear usually means the guide is slightly bent. Most the time its the guide it self but the mount tabs can bend also.

Not riding in mud makes my season way shorter. Or at least come a lot later.

I've had black and orange sprockets both wear. Nothing you can do about it. I've even had little stones get stuck during the ride and there's no way to know. It just rubs right thru the ano. Unless you are really looking at it, you can't tell.

If you get black, you can touch it up with a perminante maker or paint pen.

Chain guide shouldn't touch the sprocket. When it shows wear usually means the guide is slightly bent. Most the time its the guide it self but the mount tabs can bend also.
That is the benefit of a TM style guide. They don't have the aluminum stiffener. You can still get rock or mud that willl cause you issues but at least the things don't bend over and rub.

The main reason I run a TM.
