Was wondering if anyone might remember this bike, a BPR TT250 Yamaha. Looking race pictures and any stories. The one race picture I have shows Danny Turner racing it in Supercross?

Don't remember this bike but it looks pretry trick.. I remember Lance Moorewood racing a Kawasaki KLX or KLR ? 250 four stroke at Anaheim Supercross about 1980. He did pretty good as I recall.

I recall White Brothers trying to get a TT250 based bike into the mains, decades ago. But a far more 'standard' ( cantilever frame etc) bike than this.

A Trick chassis - reminds me of the HPFs - same thing / near 'relative', so to speak?

Maicojoe - is that your bike or are you just looking for information ?

The cyclenews clip is from LA superbowl / SX 1982, pretty sure. Danny came real close to being the first fourstroke to qualify for a SX. And that was equal displacement, 250cc four-stroke against 250 two-strokes. Only a single class back then, 20 rider main so "real" competitive for "any" privateer to make the night show.

If you own that bike let me know. If your looking for info pm me, I could try to get a hold of Bruce. I'm curious about that bike if you know about it.

Yes, I do own the bike. Still pretty much original as last raced in 1982. Quite the time capsule. This bike was so far ahead of times, just a crazy cool bike.

That is a real cool piece to own. I know that race, I was there (mechanic). My rider did not qualify either Smile .

I'll see if I can get some input from Danny. He's pretty humble, no ego, not real big on talking up his racing exploits.

Danny raced the 340cc BPR Aberg replica at Anaheim that year. The weekend memories are a little sketchy. Lenny B. and I went down and stayed at John Cook's place. It was quite a weekend. Speedway at Anaheim on Friday, Supercross on Saturday. Sunday was the 4 stroke Nats at Carlsbad.

This is not an Aberg replica ( AKA HL500) The HL500 ProFab or British made Yamaha HL500 bikes are completely different. They are all twin shock bikes, using the TT500/XT500 two valve engines from 1975-81.
My bike is the one pictured above, it is a Bruce Porter built bike, one of one. Or BPR, Bruce Porter Racing. This is the only one he made like this. The engine is based on the Yamaha TT250. Not the TT500 engine. Yamaha made the TT250/XT250 mono shock bike from 1980 to 1982, with the air cooled two valve engine. The later Yamaha TT250 bikes were completely different, engine was a air cooled 4 valve, completely different chassis, etc. The only thing used on my bike from the TT250 bike is the engine, kind of. The engine was either 330cc or 340cc as raced, but is now 446cc. The frame was built by C&J I believe, very similar to a HPF Honda. The forks of course are custom early Simons UDX-60's with early works type disc brake and hub, custom Thor swing arm and shock linkage with custom Ohlins rear shock, custom plastic and tank, etc.

You're right. It's a BPR Pro Shock. He built Abergs later.

Bruce Porter actually still owns the two twin shock HL500 ProFab Abergs he built for the Four Stroke Nationals. Very special bikes, one of which won a championship..... These were built before my bike, 1978-1981 era

Ok, I know this is an old post....but, just wanted to add or update it. As Sidecar was asking a few questions, life has certainly taken some interesting and very cool twists and turns for me. I still own the BPR TT250 bike...but, have recently acquired Bruce Porter’s #20 Aberg Pro-Tec engined bike, Hallman Pro-Fab framed. And, I just recently acquired the White Brother’s 1979 KLX250 championship winning bike ridden by Lance Moorwood. The pictures speak for themselves. 👍
And, I own the #17 RJ bike in the pictures, a 1983 TT600 based bike, 717cc engine, built by Pro-Tec
And, a very early Pro-Tec TT500

Here he is riding his new Yamaha 350. It was taken at my place in Shingle Springs. He got poison oak real bad that day. We were building sections and riding them. He'd say " let's clean out these berry bushes". I'd say "dude! Those aren't berry bushes". I thought his wife was going to kill me. The other pic is from the first US 250 USGP in Holister. Some moto notables in that pic.🤘

Hey Joe-I posted it here for $4600, I have more into it. I’ll give you a better deal though. I love the KLX 250’s, but really don’t have a race class for them. I couple other projects I need to finish.
