Has anyone heard that the rod on the 2016 is the week point? I was at a race recently and heard the rods break on the 2016 YZ 250f. so far the bike has been awesome. Would love to hear from other people, I don't want to have to buy an aftermarket rod, just to costly on a bike with 25hrs. Thanks

Not sure if it is the same part as the 2015, but one of our riding crew has a 2015 with almost 90 hours on the stock crank/ rod/ piston

I've got about 60hrs on a stock 14 rod. Not saying I'd reccomend it, and I'll replace it before springtime, but so far so good.

I thought the problem was solved in 2016, maybe even 2015. If you check the online parts fiche, the 2016 rod replaces the 2014 number. I've got 64 hours on my stock 2014, runs great, no issues. Replacing the top end this winter, if rod is in spec, probably will run another 60.

I was in staging last season and the kid in front had a new yzf250 and got excited revving the engine.

It threw the rod right through the cases. Low hours. Can't win em all, lol

The worse time to rev a engine is when its not under load.

Probably same reason that if you are on a fixed speed bike going down hill, no resistance but spinning at high speed is hard on your knees, assuming same in a motor, hard on the bearings (joints)
