Man, there is honestly no reason he's not racing other than he doesn't want too...I'm sure he could get a shop to give (or borrow) a bike for the season...with his talent I'm sure he could get all the parts he'd need to build a solid race bike FOR FREE, and probably get some companies to cover travel expenses.

He wouldn't be making a salary, but he'd at least be out there racing and showing teams he wants to be there...be in front of the teams faces (out of sight out of mind).

This is coming from a guy who spends thousands of dollars every year to race dirt bikes...so I just don't understand how a guy like Grant-who could get everything he needs for free-isn't out there racing? I just don't understand...
I'm going to guess that it's not nearly as easy as it seems, but who knows... I'm not in their shoes.

Maybe so...but there are privateers doing it every round...so it's not impossible.

I would expect him to really be trying to get a steady paycheck back. Didn't his mom steal all of his money I believe it said that on INSIDE THE OUTDOORS. I doubt the last few years have been million dollar contract years right? I agree with you guys that said his past endeavors may have something to do with his current situation and that if he is not putting himself out there like jimmy and chiz and the other top 20 guys that he will stay on his couch.

Its a pretty dangerous sport and he's got a lot to loose by "racing for free" or just "racing for the sake of racing". He wants to race but remember he has a family and his new business HLTN.

His people reached out to everyone, including MXGP teams and there was nothing or not enough for him to justify the risk/ reward. With such a deep field and with teams not wanting to pay or being able to pay, a guy like Grant finds himself in this situation. Could he race? Definitely. Would you waste your money if you were at that level? You might say Yes but remember, this is his career and this is a business as well. (Business that doesn't yield a high return let alone a profit -See 22 Racing-) Weekend warriors pay the bills by way of our "9-5-M-F sponsor". If you quit racing...you still get a paycheck. If Grant quits racing...he has nothing to fall back on. If he gets hurt...even worse.

Josh will be fine. He's still riding and having fun on his bike.

I wonder how hard it was to drag his couch up into the stands at Anaheim?

Is it less dangerous and less risky for a privateer?

If a privateer gets hurt, they have nothing to fall back on, and if they get hurt...even worse. They have families..their racing is their business...but yet they still line up because they love it...maybe Josh just doesn't love it?

JG has mad talent. The right machine, the right focus, and the right conditioning and he could do serious damage way up top.
