So some of you guys might know about this race. It is one of the oldest running races in American history. It has been a tradition here in kansas for 44 years. This 2 man 6 hour race is set in the dead of the Kansas winter, and takes some heart determination to complete. Well this year my local club has decided to alter the race to a 4 hour 2 man even, stateing that it would help get more entrants. I am actually really pissed about it. Why would you alter somthing with this much History just to get more entrants.....seems like we are catering to a generation filled with crybaby pussies. I have stated my frusterations with the club, and told them that they should market the race a lil better...instead of just putting up a flyer in the local bike shop and posting somthing on facebook a few days before the event. What are your guys opinion on this. keep it 6 hours or let it go and change the Tradition of the Massacre.

I think you should man up and ride both legs yourself.

When you're done, knock some teeth out of young punks whining about their blisters. Pussies...

Just have the massacre on Saturday and keep tradition and on Sunday offer a Tender Pussy class. See how many show up for that.

I had an old racer come in and tell me about that race and how hard it was back when he used to do it. I immediately Google'd it after he left and I couldn't find any information on it anywhere so I assumed it was no longer an event. Where do I find info on it? I would like to try it

well its only 4 hour 2 man now since they changed it. you can go to here and find some more info on this event. I am in the process of trying to get it changed back before the event next month.

The 6 hour is a brutal event, The layout is a combination of the tracks on the whole property at Jeeps cycle club. MXer512, I wish someone would have let me know about this, Changing this tradition is crap. See what happens when I quit coming to the meetings. You guys can check it out on the Jeeps cycle club facebook page. They shut down the website forum. Chavis, i'm making some calls.

Like Mxer512 said, maybe they should advertise it and people will come and they wouldn't have to shorten it to get people in. The Offroad Cup is a 9 hour race and they don't have a problem with lack of entries

Ok, so it's got a fighting chance of being a legit fun race. In Michigan that would be a 100% freezing/ partially thawed slop fest.

I've had my most success on a bike in the woods doing solo enduros. They would usually cover a 60-80 miles in one race and I would be in the saddle for all of 6 hours..... so I'm with ya man, it's bull shit they're shortening it up for those reasons.

Good luck getting that kind of support on a moto forum though, TeddyBROselvelt.

my bitch is really more about them shortening the event. This is a long standing tradition. Racing 4 hours is not the event.....its called the massacre for a reason....its supposed to be tough, its supposed to be hard, its supposed to bring out the Quit in people, its suppsed to be hard on your bike, it supposed to be cold as shit.

I'm really really interested in this stuff as we race a lot of woods and also moto , and lots of friends I've showed this to already. 6 hours would be tremendous and would bring a lot to the event if you can get that time back. 4 hours is still cool, though.

There's a 24 hour enduro every year in Georgia can have up to 6 guys. We were going to run it one year with a team of 4 but 2 of the guys got hurt the weekend before and me and the other guy didn't think we could do 12 hours a piece lol. May try and get a group together and do it this year

Get some youg'n to make up a promo video with this song as the soundtrack. It may not be your kind of music but it mentions going back to Witchita and a lot of the lyrics are very apt for getting riders pumped up to want to come and race a big race IMO.

You know there are a several off road racing groups in Texas, OK, MO, CO, etc etc that would be all over this event if someone would tell us about it! Team events are always a great time and even better reason for a road trip with the guys to go racing.
If the tradition is 6 hours it should be 6 hours. They want attendance let potential participants know well in advance.

So you'd rather the event wither and die than change the format?

The bitter old men on this forum are out of this world sometimes

How much history is there if nobody knows about it? Past the locals that is anyway. Sometimes change is necessary for the life of an event. Sounds like it would be a great time.

I have ridden the 6-hour and was a regular during the 2hr fall/winter scrambles back in the 70's. Have been making plans to ride the 6hr this year.

One reason you may be finding a lack of interest is no one knows about it. And those of us that do, can't find any info. In December, I ended up borrowing my son's FB to send a message through FB just to find out the date of this years. I am not cranked about it, but it is difficult to get interest in a race that not many people even know exists.

Right now, I am not sure (work/$$$/time) I am going to be able to drive back for it this year. Dang it. But I've not been shut out yet. Smile I hope the 6/4 hour goes well. It was always one of my favorites.

I was joking. I'll stick to 6 laps at 70 degrees too. Place me in the vagina category, please!

I imagine it being tumble weeds, rolling over snow into huge snow balls. Snow balls everywhere.
