Hey peeps!

So I'm 5'10" and 160lbs w/ all my gear on and ride tracks/trail/wherever...

My 2013 YZ250 is BONE stock and the bike is amazingly FUN to ride!

Suspension is great just a little bit stiff for me out of the box and I will most likely get a valve job done if needed.

What mods do you think are necessary for your YZ250's out there? Which made a difference and how much?

I have a 2013. Send the cylinder and head to Roth Racing for porting and head mod. You will be amazed at the eye-watering speed Mr. Roth can provide. Best money I ever spent on an engine mod. As a bonus, he's in Northern California, so not too far from you.

I guess I should prob edit haha

In regards to power I don't need or want more power, but if anything maybe smooth out the bottom delivery and maybe stretch the power out a bit..With my weight and speed the YZ def has enough balls stock for my skinny self lol

If you're gonna port it you might wanna get the softer PV spring or else you may have a dip in your powerband.

Its a great bike, just add a flywheelweight and right jetting this bike is plenty good. Some are gonna say v-force or rad valves are a must but to me they didnt do anything.

Spend the rest of your money on tires and gas and your gonna have fun!

cool! I've seen quite a few people adding funky looking riser setups to the clamps? Is there a reason for this or just preference?

I had the exact same bike. The best modification I did to it was selling it and getting a 250F...True Story.

haha i hear ya! I went down that road and I truly enjoy the 2 stroke fun and flair lol i do LOVE the yz250f tho, they're amazing

Aftermarket triple clamps offset 22 or 22.5mm. Seems to be the hot setup on the YZ's to get them to turn better. However, it is only worth it if you have tried everything you can with the stock setup first (fork height/sag/bar position).

Retard the timing, #8 slide, re-jet for your conditions, +1 on the rear sprocket, flywheel weight if you like that sort of thing. I have a 13oz. on mine, used only for moto but I am 50+ lol.

I have an '06, which is remarkably similar to that bike. When I bought it, I felt that a 250 was too much power for me, and I planned to drop a tooth on the rear to make the gearing a little taller. This would make the hit a little less abrupt, but not much. You may want to try that, or do as someone else mentioned and get a flywheel weight.

The suspension is awesome, even stock. I'd work on getting the adjusters dialed in first if I were you. I think the spring rates should be spot-on for your weight. Adjust the sag to 100mm and then see if you get any free sag - there should be about 1 to 1.5 inches with the bike off the stand (no rider) once you set the race sag.

Everything else on that bike is pretty solid. I did an oversize Braking rotor on mine, and I've done braided brake lines before for more stopping power; just be sure you know how to use that brake before making this mod.

I def need to set my sag first haha I'll start there and do the clicks back to stock, any suggestions on the flywheel weights? GYTR? Steahly?

Put a Pro Circuit 304 shorty silencer on it. I have a 13 also and this gave it more top end.

Since YZ people are reading this, I'm building an 03 with a floppy kickstarter. Is there anything better than the stock 2 stroke one. ie:250f one?

Putting a shorty on, as far as I know, would give the opposite effect that you experienced.
Usually a shorty will give you more bottom to mid, with a shorter power band.

Pretty sure 2004-2011 WR450F or 2004-2009 YZ450F kick starter will work, they're a bit beefier.

I don't have any pics sorry, I'm just relaying some info I saw on thumpertalk.

I did get the head mod done on mine and the difference is very noticeable, bike runs much more crisp.

Vforce 3. PC pipe r304 shorty silencer. Ufo restyled kit.

And that floppy kicker....just buy a new spring and bearing. $2 worth of parts. Will tighten it right up.

Usually a shorty will give you more bottom to mid, with a shorter power band.
Ran it back to back with the stock silencer on the same day and it pulled longer for me.

It you want to kill the hit at the bottom drop a tooth in the rear sprocket and run a vforce3 reed valve. If you really want a top end monster cut the head to bring it back to pre '11 us spec and port the cylinder. Also blueprinting the motor will make a big difference and will polishing the transmission.
