Lay off the drugs and booze and then just turn it off. Pinch Once you disable it it wont come back when you log back on.

Throw your computer out. You're obviously too stupid to use one....

Seriously, just google the damn problem and fix it like everybody else. Shit, half the IT guys out there do nothing more than that.

Yeah, I'm keeping Windows 7. I HATE Windows 8 and I don't trust Microsoft to not mess it up even worse with 10. The OPs post is one more piece of evidence.

Does anybody know how to disable the "Free Windows 10 software download" popups that I keep getting? Is there a way to tell Microsoft to go screw themselves?

I had windows 7 on all my computers and then tried windows 10 on my laptop for several months to see if I liked it and now have updated all my PCs to windows 10 and very happy with it and its easy to use. Windows 8 was even worse than Windows Vista.

I updated my moms laptop yesterday from 8 to 10. It took 8 hours. Huh

I have a laptop running 8.1 that I got thanksgiving 2014 and it runs fine and gives me no trouble. Not sure if I will update it to 10 until I spend some time checking out 10 over the next few days.

Once I realized to never click on the blue "app screen" BS in 8.1 and do everything from the desktop I do not mind it much.

I'm still on a MacBook from 2007. It's obsolete now. Can't update it anymore but still never have had problems.

Ah ya, buy a Mac.

Not only are Mac's far easier to use they employ significantly more stable operating systems. Microsoft deserves to fail after its last two operating systems. Effing horrible.

I would either install 7 or upgrade to 10 but no one should ever be subject to the horror of windows 8 Sick Sick You would more than likely have to buy windows 7 unless you have a disc but you should be able to upgrade to 10 for free.

Just got a new Dell desktop with Win 10. Very unstable until I uninstalled McAfee. Works fine now. No more lockups.

You're such a rebel. FBG!
I would have dumped Windows long ago except that I have certain software that has to have it. Plus I'm lazy.

Is it that paged fault deal? I forget the process name or what .sys file causes it.

Im about to uninstall mcafee also. Go back to free Avast. and Free Zone Alarm Firewall. Or some other Free Anti Virus and Firewall?

Mine was locking up on Firefox 2 or 3 times a day. I was also having issues with missing files on my recording software.

According to the radio geek, Leo LaPort, Windows Defender does a pretty good job. I used it on my last one. No virus or malware for 6 years. Just common sense stuff really.

They forced 10 on my old PC and it really screwed it up. Loved the rating request that didn't allow for any negative responses. I needed a new PC so picked one up before Christmas, thought maybe it would be better, nope.

I'm on Win 7 ultimate 64....and don't plan on upgrading any time soon. Had a laptop with Win 8....and freakin' hated that operating system. On my office computer , Win 7 still does everything I want it to do flawlessly. On my big badass gaming / race sim rig , it runs Win 7 as well , because Win 10 still has major bugs that pop up in a lot of the racing sims I run. Some of them still run the older DX9 , some DX 10 and 11.......but there are other issues with 10 , that a lot of sim racers can not stand.

In my opinion....Windows 7 , if it aint broke , why upgrade at the moment? It's a super solid platform that gets the job done.

LOL I have a computer that I have windows 7 on also that I just use for racing sims too and as we speak I am building a race seat with a couple of seats I got off craigslist for free from a can am side by side. I have a nice set of pedals and steering wheel and building a frame for the seats and controls and a big monitor.

Seats I picked up for free

building something like this.

Yeah , that'll work LB. I was bouncing back and forth with buying a sim rig , but decided to build my own. Was originally going to build an aluminum cockpit , but by the time I added up all the materials and time to make one the way I wanted , it started getting kinda pricey. I ended up going and building one out of 2" PVC pipe , along with numerous special fittings you can find online. I wanted to make it versatile , so I could use it as a main function racing sim rig , but then add and remove different attachments for things such as flying sims and / or shooting sims. Bunch of configurations you can do with it.

IF you really like the racing sims , do yourself a favor and when you go to buy your wheels and pedals....get the good ones! I started off with a used Logitech DFGT wheel for the first 2 years. Found out how much I love the racing sims , so I saved and bought some quality equipment , and it made things much nicer.

Thanks for the tip. I bought a new Dell laptop with windows 10. It freezes up every once in awhile which is annoying. Other than that, everything seems to work fine although I don't use the touch screen much. I'll uninstall McAffee and go with AVG or Avast which have worked well for me in the past. Fingers crossed.

What's a pisser is that you have to download an uninstaller from McAfee to completely disable it. My Windows defender would not work until I did that.
