I know where you live fool. lol

I'm not doubting Service Honda's quality, just the purpose of a 500 in general.

All I did was question the purpose, not the quality. And for that I've got big black and whitey throwing fits. You took a legit question as a personal attack. Looks like someone else is the one with the personality issues.

If I knew everything, I wouldn't have asked the question to begin with. Don't forget to take your meds before you go to sleep, slip off those drugs you might end up in padded room.

Congrats to Service Honda for finding their niche, making a seemingly quality product and some money along with it.

Since people don't ride 450's to their potential, then why do people keep buying them? Oh yeah, cuz you don't have to live on the ragged edge with them to go fast. Same thing with the 500, except even more exaggerated. Not to mention they are bulletproof, and in most cases lighter than the 450 counterpart.

At any rate, you came off sounding like you were a really fast guy talking about why would anyone buy this bike that you can't ride WFO. If you are really wringing out a 450, you've done 1 of 2 things: 1: forgot to shift, or 2. qualifying for an AMA national.

Congrats JT.

Yeah, somehow I misconstrued:

Then in an awkward way, I understand. It must be one of those things were guys with small dicks need retardedly lifted F350s etc to feel like a man.

as a personal attack. Maybe that's not a personal attack in Bakersfield, but in Texas it gets your ass kicked. In fact, I've spent some time in Bakersfield and it'll get your ass kicked there, too.

Your original response came off with a hint of asshole. I had to pry some kind of answer out of you.

If you own a 500 and that isn't why you own one it shouldn't have had any effect on you. It won't get your ass kicked anywhere if said in the right tone, you took it the wrong way, accept it.

In reply of your attack, It's common knowledge that few people can ride a 450 to the max, the thought that anyone could ride a 500 2 stroke that way is idiocy.

I wouldn't mind trying one out Slow~Pro, although I've yet to meet anyone willing to let someone they don't know ride their bike. 500s aren't a bike anyone can ride WFO though and that's what makes riding fun for me.
I am the first to offer anyone to try what I am riding...That's how I sell what I am on.

I don't have a AF500, but I have been on one, few bikes I haven't been on. But I too was young, and thought I was aware of everything around me. I quickly learned to listen more, and pay attention.

Kyle...You have a chance to go far in the sport of Motocross, but once you piss a few people off, you have little chance left.

Just open your mind for a different view. Most of these guys on this site are tired of arguing facts that they have learned with their own blood, and sweat.

I just got off the phone with A.J., as I am writing this, I have two of his "Junior R" bikes but, he simply can't build the AF500s fast enough, to meet the demand...That alone has to say something for the bike.

Legit response, question answered and quoted for truth. All of it. Thank you.

I will admit to being in a bad mood and agree that in my last few post I've come off as an asshole. All of which is easily explained by 10 months of no riding, a broken back and femur which has yet to heal, and aggressive responses by others.

damn this thread got ugly quick. all behling was asking is whats the point. Same thing I ask about those street bikes with v-8 engines, or sand dragsters, or anything like that. The only real answer anyone can give is "because I can" haha

How about "because that's what we like to ride" or "because it's fun" or "because I like the way it sounds" or "because it's as reliable as a hammer" or "because it's faster, lighter and better handling than a 450" or "because it's unique and when you get a little older you like stuff like that" or "because it's kind of cool to have a bike with an engine design that's more than 15 years old that runs better than anything you can buy today" or "because it's the coolest dirt bike you can buy" or "because it's super versitile and you can ride it in deep woods and then go 90 MPH on a fire road without changing the gearing".

That's the point. haha.

A buddy of mine's leg wasn't healing and come to find out one of his doctors had prescribed something that was limiting his body's ability to produce calcium. He got off that medication and his leg (spiral fracture of the tib, external fixator) healed in short order.

Good luck with your femur.

BTW, I would take an AF500 over a CRF450 anytime, anywhere......

I rode a 88 CR500 for six years and it was bulletproof. Was I riding it to it's full potential as a vet rider? No. Was I having the time of my life with just about zero maintenance aside from fresh filters and gearbox oil? ABSOLUTELY!

Racing at Carlsbad for six years on a 500 is something I will always treasure.

Peace.

You two are taking a very cool thread, and turning it into something else.

If you want to go all Greco-Roman on each other, might I suggest doing it in the Dumbgeon?

guy B one thing, thanks for not "nukeing" the thread or locking it down, some places one the interweb would have gone goofy on it already......tt for example won't let people talk about machines like this.....

anyway, I have rode for/with service honda for 14 years now. no question on how things work.....they work excellent.

The a/f line was kinda a fluke that turned into a top rate process. LOL and if mx sports would allow the 500 in the current 450/open class it would be pretty cool. The bikes are close enough to make it fair, but the 500 just has a following that would be interested in the whole national thing again. I would be one of those people.

As far as a guy not getting how "special" this machine is. Well not everyone will, no offense given or taken here. But I have rode alot of motorcycles. 35 years of racing and i like my 500 hondas, simple it has the horse power, the delivery, and the maintance that i like........

in other words I like putting gas in it, changing oil, and air filter. then if I want riding it for 5 years. Why do you think the OEM's got rid of the 500 FIRST, it was way to dam dependable and when you can't sell parts you can't make money.

i am bias not a question there. but when something proves it's self, well what is there to say.

cept, AJ, the first race is 2-15-2009....... Smile

Theres only Two things that come from texas... Steers and Queers,,, and well i dont see any horns.

Kyle has a real point a 500 is point less there is so much power that you never use so wats the point.

I only will ask one question.

for you guys saying "the 500 has more power then you need"

that is the point my friends. and in some instances, and some tracks, you will use that power.

secondly I raced 17 HS races along with my normal MX races this last year, believe me the torque and the horsepower comes into to play at EVERY HS race.

I think this conversation would be better served if both ends actually had some real experience riding a 500. And if you have then well we just have a difference of opinion.

sorry but when you come to the starting line, i like knowing with the 500 I have the power if i want to use it. if I show up on a 125, well guess I will have horsepower envy, and likley a much worse score to add to that humility.

Smile

What you don't know is that AJ gets no benefit from this sale. Yet, over the past year, he's always answered my emails, questions, concerns, ignorance, etc. Additionally, he gave me advice and showed me this is a good buy. Top that off with him offering to ship me updated components free of charge, and he continues to supply set up information, all on his own time and out of his own pocket.

Service beyond comparison. You want top service, you want a quality ride, you wanna kill everything else out there, AJ will hook you up. Plain and simple.

Dude.....you suck. Tongue

How you gonna ride that thing in all the snow?? You better bring it down here for a month or so to get it broken in. I'll be happy to assist with this burdensome task.

one of my buddies got one last year. boy is it cool. the 250 frame is cool. i especially like the air filter location and ease of cleaning it(really cool) the whole bike is rad. he still ride his 450 4 stroke faster but this bike is killer and probably be the best at the dunes

AJ has hooked me up with the simplest of things before at no charge, I called and ordered some non Honda parts last week and asked the salesman did he know AJ, he had nothing but good things to say, I buy all my Honda parts from them...

I landed on some tools bike that he left on the track. The absence of flaggers has nothing to do with anyones ability to ride. My comment about myself and a 450 was directed toward Jordy as he is a personal friend. This thread finally got it's shit headed in the right direction again, don't keep coming back only to fuck it up. Thanks.
