I think that if people were to go to Israel and see it for themselves, they would have different responses. The country is beautiful - rich in history and culture - not to mention the awesome beaches, food and nightlife.

I am excited to see what happens with mx in Israel - and the Middle East in general and Blake's story totally manifests that there is a market there. There are tracks ready to ride. Bikes ready to ride. And crowds ready to watch. Sand for days. Awesome weather.... I'm packing my bags now.

All I can think of (of course) is how awesome it would be to have young women involved and share the passion we at Motocross Ladies (MXL) has with other women. In an area where women are discouraged to participate in sports - how awesome would it be to have MXL in Israel. Get the young people involved and start a new generation of motorsports! I know that if it wasn't for motocross I wouldn't be the person I am today. Would love for motocross to have the same impact in Israel - shoot - all over the world for that matter.

Blake went over to teach a motocross school and ended up doing a fantastic feature for the magazine. I will say he's the best genuine motocross writer I have read since Ping came along. He talks about how motocross was illegal in Israel until 2012 and how expensive bikes are because of tariffs and all. He even went and spoke to the Israeli Minister of Sports to learn about why motocross has struggled so long, and now it's suddenly becoming popular. He stays completely out of the politics of it all, Israeli or Palestinian, hence the name of the feature: Riding on Common Ground.

I'm not sure if Blake was homeschooled, but if he was, he was very serious about it and definitely paid better attention!

Oh, and the tank was just sitting there near the track. They stopped and climbed up on it. He said the whole trip was quite an amazing experience, and it definitely comes through in his words.

Ilovetacos, I did a feature on Bader Manneh a few years back, we are good friends and still in contact, and I wrote about his background. Blake was interested as well and hopes to meet Bader, a fellow 125 SX winner and world traveler, some day at the races.

"polish jews" and "russian jews" is kind of a misnomer since most of them are not polish or russian at all. they may speak the language but they are not slavic peoples. some are mixed im sure but they are their own race of people.

Wow, I was just talking about Moto friends, from both sides of the divide. I didn't ask their religion nor their sympathies, nor their historical bonafides... Bader Manneh is a bad-ass by way of the Middle East; Blake Wharton is a badass who went to the Middle East. What they have in common is Moto. That's a start for most. Why can't we pick up their story there? Because the troubles you speak of won't be solved by them, but they can help start it, right?

Or should we go just keep digging holes and traps instead of whoops and jumps and make this board a demographicross instead of motocross and run everyone off? I can't solve Palestine and the Holy Land, and neither can Blake nor Bader, so let's work on what we have in common? Dirt bikes?

Only if you knew my contribution to moto... I have put over 700 motorcycles a year ( for 20 years) on the road and track as a Suzuki dealer where I helped guys like Scott Sheak, Mike Healy, Greg and Eric schnell , Ty Kady, Ray Somo , Travis Preston ,Mike Metzger , Donald Upton and Mile Allessi ...and many other locals in Socal.

I even sold your magazines before it had a shiny gloss cover !

Only if you knew my contribution to moto... I have put over 700 motorcycles a year ( for 20 years) on the road and track as a Suzuki dealer where I helped guys like Scott Sheak, Mike Healy, Greg and Eric schnell , Ty Kady, Ray Somo , Travis Preston ,Mike Metzger , Donald Upton and Mile Allessi ...and many other locals in Socal.

I even sold your magazines before it had a shiny gloss cover !

When I write about San Bernardino, should I mention the mass shootings there? How about the horrific Italian campaign of 1943-44 when we get to the MX of Nations next year? Should we have mentioned the Holocaust or the Sbarro bombing in Blake's story about motocross in Israel or the tunnels to Gaza? (Which Blake himself wrote, not me.) And while I thank you for selling 700 motorcycles a year, i can't believe your laying your hate about the 1948 Mandate by the British to have an Israeli state and the turmoil since on top of an article about people coming together on common ground to ride dirt bikes.... We all have our issues and concerns and the rest of the world is a gnarly place, that's why we enjoy Moto so much. If that's not enough for you, you're on the wrong forum.
