You've been supremely helpful in this thread, haven't you? Glad you joined the board two months ago...

You are taking this awfully personally, so let me assure you that you're welcome to run whatever the hell you want. I really couldn't care less if you break your ankle.

I'm not allowed to make fun of your ridiculous boot-bending "scientific" methods without you throwing a hissy fit?

I had Tech 10s and the inside of the boot that touches the frame was tearing in a few short rides and I'm easy on equipment. I purchased a pair of sg12s to replace them based on everyones great reviews about durability and such. After a couple seasons they still looked new but I hated how heavy and stiff they felt. Shifting always felt awkward to me in them. I bought a pair of fox instincts to replace them. Initially I was concerned about the durability but after 2.5 seasons they still look new and the only thing that broke was 2 of the strap passes (happened recently). $4 bucks to replace both. I never been happier with a pair of boots.

The Alpinestars boot is still not bending at the ankle like the Sidi. The Sidi boot pictured above is not distorted in any way. The calf area isn't folding or crumpling in - it's simply bending at the hinge at the ankle.
If that happens with either boot with you foot in it something is tearing.
