Do your homework first.
Great website here that will tell you if that new TV you're looking at might be good for movies but crap for sports. Check it out...

I read the new smart tvs, especially the Samsung, when hooked online, not only track what you watch, but can listen
to what is going on in the room, even when turned off.
Just sayin.
And yeah the fiddy in the bedroom is the deal.
Can you guys tell me what the difference going from a DLP to an LED or 4K tv will be like for sports, games, and movies?
Thanks,
I bought a Sony 4K XBR55X810C, and it is great for sports as well as movies. Really good all-around.
You can't generalize about LED or 4K, because some do some things great, but are shitty for other things. Take a look at the chart from the rtings website.
The Sony 810C does well across the board. I paid $870 for it at HH Gregg when they were having a 'midnight 11% off overnight' sale a couple of weeks ago. All those TV's ahead of it on this list are at least $500 more than the $1000 that seems to be the going rate on the 810C at most stores.
My only criticism of the Sony is that the sound is horrible, but I have a good home theater sound system so that is not a problem for me.
We had a Vizio 40 in the dining room and it never looked right. So I gave it away and put one of the Samsungs in there.
I originally wanted the Samsung 65" but Best Buy didn't have any in stock but they had the Vizio 70" so I went with that. I do wish I could have a browser on my TV but it's easy enough to hook up a computer HDMI so it's not that big of a deal.

I was just told by a rep/tech guy that by the "2nd quarter 2016" some programming will become available in 4k.
The 4k content avail today comes through the internet, on demand.
Shit, MAV tv on directv isn't even HD for crying out loud.
I think I'll wait for a 4k tv
Alternatively, any TV with an HDMI port, you can use Chromecast to stream from either your computer or mobile device.
...as far as 4k content, (in others posts) I have always wondered how good it looks when the TV does the up scaling, and who (if any) do it right? Be good info to know because the 4k pricing is dropping fast!
If you can see the entire picture without having to move your head from one side to the other, your TV is too small.
I'm hoping, come sx season that I can stream some of the stolen streams that guys put up in the race thread. Be nice to watch an sx on the 55 inch instead of on my laptop.
On a sidenote, we have no problem streaming stuff through Hulu or watching Youtube vids etc.
