Concussions

My local track has posted a sign "Concussion Free Zone" with a little picture of a head hitting the ground and a red line through it. So now everyone's safe at that track.

What kind of helmet were you wearing. You didn't mention a crash, but said, "I just got one leading my race." Unless leading the race, or bad karma was the cause, there must be more to the incident. I'm getting a new helmet soon so anything you can provide concerning the nature of the crash or impact would be appreciated. How do you know that you even have a concussion? Did you have the baseline testing done? Were you seen by a doctor? Not doubting that you got one, just wondering how you know for sure. From what I understand diagnosis is not always black or white. If you've had more than two concussions, make sure you're not affected by 'Third Impact Disorder (TID),' before you even sit on a bike again.

Lol.
I am know his statement seems a bit absurd and isn't well put together (maybe the concussion), but I take your lol as not buying it or find his statement comical. I'm at work and have them saved to my computer at home, but there were a few articles (fairly recently) making similar claims. I would have to re-read and or post the links, but if memory serves correct (4 confirmed concussions myself with a possible 5th) it had something to do with the amount of pressure centralized to smaller points of contact centralizing a higher amount of the impact to one spot. Basically a problem with impact disbursement that happen in select circumstances and in rare situations. Don't get me wrong it wasn't concrete as it was all based on somewhat circumstantial evidence and I believe 6D had already taken steps to address it, but its not completely out of the realm of possibility. Its similar to the Leatte argument in the perfect (or imperfect) circumstances it maybe more harmful than helpful.

I'll try to google the articles if I have some extra time.

That said the theory behind them is genius it seems to me, and am all for the innovation, and have turned in the old Arai for a new 6D and love it! (first time in 20+ years my heads not in an Arai)

Everyone will have their own opinion, all I know from my experience, wore only Arai for 20 years and never had a single concussion (seriously) after numerous big crashes and broken bones. Got a Bell Moto 9 a year ago because it looked so damn good and the new Arai simply looks pants, but have had two mild concussions, maybe co-incidence or luck...Next lid will be another Arai

Are you serious about your concussions?
yes completely serious , had total memory loss 3 times when i woke up didn't even know were is was .
the big one when i was out for 57 min i completely lost the 3 days prior to the crash , i didn't know what country i was in or how i got there or what i was doing there , i was happy to know i had put it on pole the lap before the crash but couldn't remember it .
that was a nasty one s i had broken both arms , torn my triceps off the elbow , both hamstrings were torn and 4 toes also broken . they needed 4 surgeries to put me back together but due to complications i died during the last one , they had to use the paddles to get my heart started again but i spent the next 3 days in icu in a coma . that was 12 years ago i know as my daughter is 11 and wife was due to have my daughter in 8 weeks when i has the crash .

not all were from MX a lot were from road racing, GP and superbikes and 3 were from supermoto

Moto 9 Flex hasn't been out a year. I'm guessing you have the standard Moto 9?
