There's no doubt JS7, Dungey and Roczen are light years ahead of Reed as far as popularity goes. I'd even bet there are a few lites and even amateur riders that garner more attention than Reed at this point.

I'm a fan of Reed too! But I don't have this strange nostalgic tunnel vision most of you guys do.

Go and listen. You can get some facts, and maybe you dont hate ass much after that. Or maybe you hate more.

JS7 and CR22 are the most popular guys in the sport, who is more popular? in that podcast Weege and Mathes thinks that CR22 is the fan favourite, but i dont think that means that CR22 gets the most clicks and atention.

Anyway, JS7 and Chad is good for the sport as long as they can Race in top 5 and can get on the podium sometimes.
I truly trust that they are smart enough to know when is time to walk away. Until that, i enjoy every race i get from them.

I can argue that dungey is more popular. Pretty sure he's got the target sponsorship (huge ratailer) the Wheaties gig, oh and he won an ESPY and had a feature interview on espn. I like Reed but come on.there is no doubt JS7 and Dungey are the two most popular.
Hmm.. Weege talks quite often about this stuff and i dont remember him mentioning Dungey. It's always Reed and JS7 who has the most clicks. Weege even said that the biggest MX news this summer was the Team 22 closing the doors.

Last week's biggest news: Eli Tomac (officially) signed with Monster Energy Kawasaki.

This one isn’t even close. Tomac is 22 years old and capable of becoming the next great champion of this sport. His team switch is a big power shift for both Monster and Kawasaki, the perfect antidote to Red Bull riders like Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, and Ken Roczen.

Or was it?

The numbers on our site tell a different story. Web traffic says the breaking news post on Tomac's news was beaten by a breaking news post on…wait for it…Chad Reed.

Oh, yes. Chad Reed. And James Stewart. Reed and Stew. Stew and Reed. No matter what happens, they still get the most clicks.

(This is the point in the story where some will argue that Reed and Stewart are media favorites and we’re the ones making them so popular, but I'll add that we posted three stories about Tomac in total, including an interview. We did everything we could to make the Tomac news the biggest news. But the clicks really rolled in when Reed's name hit our breaking news section.)

But who gets the most traffic?

Well that sorts it then. Chad's stock has fallen so it's time to get out of this 22 stock I been raking up since 1997.
Eli is the best ever. He's a beast!!!

Hope this doesn't get me tried in court for insider trading Huh

are those 4 spikes reeds last 4 wins? (attention: sarcasm)
data traffic doesn't mean too much to be honest. I'm very sure ken, rv and dungey have more influence on the market than reed for the past 3 to 4 years. nobody would have been so excited for mxgp this year if reed instead of rv would have raced it. nothing against reed, he has all rights to be proud of his career but there is a point when eventually the new generation will take over.

Well that's one way to say it.

That was an interesting Reed. (Ha, get it?)

What do we decide that makes someone more popular? Because all three people I listed have more Instagram followers and there are other riders that have more than him as well. Not that Instagram is a tell tale, but neither is one article. I still stand behind my original statement and think those guys have much more of an impact in this sport at this day in age.

The amateur comment was a bit much but my thought was there are a few up and comers that have factories waiting to sign them professionally yet Reed still doesn't know if he's got a ride for next season.

Again, nothing against the guy. I like CR22.

I think I started all this talk when I mentioned who gets clicks and all that but I wasn't even referring to his popularity.. I was more laughing at the people saying he's not relevant, cause obviously the numbers show he is..

Maybe not the most relevant (whatever that means) but still very much in conversations

How about ET, Andrew Short, and Cole Seely? Do their wins count? Reedy will be popular, both good and bad, to those that love or hate, for eternity. That is a fact!!!

That is why i think Dungey and Tomac maybe dont get so much 'clicks'. They are good guys, they dont have so many haters.

Roczen and Barcia, they have potential to get that same effect that CR22 and JS7 has. I just hope that those two bang's bars and talk smack in 2016. It could be next true rivalry.
