He beat the current world champion but was beaten by Marc-Reiner Schmidt, who came from a poor start and passed and gapped them both. Track this year was back on the streets, less off road for Febvre to make advantage, didn't have the tarmac speed of the TM.s

Great weekend.

He wanted to win, wasn't taking any prisoners, shame the Mx boys didn't turn out in numbers, but lack of event sponsors meant it was tough to get them all in, Van hoorebeek, dedyker, and desalle have been there, plus everts in the past, and Pichon. I know for next year, the 30th anniversary, they are after a special entry, I guess all past winners, plus as many names as they can muster, but the Wsb and gp seasons are still going so those boys can't come out to play.

The front 5 were on a different level, but it was one of the best finals for years.. My races were 20+2 and that was hard, but 30+2 was brutal round there.

Antonio Cairoli has won the Rally Legend in San Marino, at his first attempt. The Sicilian champion, who is a legend in the world of motocross, has once again proven to handle it also on four wheels, picking a surprising victory in the Myth category. Cairoli drove the Lancia Delta HF integrale of the Team Magneti Marelli Checkstar, with the assistance of his navigator, Matteo Romano, that follow since the beginning Tony, in his experiences in the world of rally.

During the three days in San Marino, the eight-time motocross world champion, has proven with amazing regularity. After ending the first day in fifth place, he was forced to retire on Saturday when in pouring rain he has recovered to second place behind the legend Kankkunen, then forced to retire. In the third and final day, Cairoli won 3 of the 4 stages and ended the race with 20 seconds and 9/10 on Simone Romagna, second.

“It was a fantastic experience, I really enjoyed racing with the legendary Lancia Delta against legends of the rally as Biasion and Kankkunen” said Tony Cairoli “Considering I did very little test and that on Saturday the conditions were really difficult, because of the weather conditions, my victory is truly amazing. I have to thank, as always the team Checkstar Magneti Marelli that supported me and the great support of my navigator Matteo Romano. I look forward to returning to Monza Rally Show to improve the position I achieved last year.”

Next appointment with cars for Tony is the Rally of Tindari, scheduled in two weeks, where he will open the stages as guest and then he will race the Monza Rally Show in Monza racetrack, scheduled for November 27 to November 29. The car that will be used in Monza will be presented at the EICMA at the Athena stand.

I don't know how many of you know this, but I believe Romain raced Supermoto professionally before he raced MX professionally.

is that meant as some kind of "John Tomac was a pro mtb rider and is Eli's dad" joke?

if it wasn't.... sorry, but it's like the only fact anyone seems to know about him and it gets repeated ad nauseum

Yeah, on a new KXF450, didnt sit on it till the morning of qualifying, and it was stock apart from a pipe and Short swingarm, didnt have the speed on the tarmac , but everywhere else was spot on, did ok for an old guy on a borrowed bike, but it was really fast again this year after a few years going downhill on the permanent track,

Was great to be back on the road.

I'm sorry, but not everyone around here follows motocross as closely as others and may have no idea that he came from Supermoto. I didn't know he came from Supermoto, but I knew he was a rookie last season for Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna. I'm not sure what your problem is, either, Bulmer.

Sorry, but Febvre wasn't a rookie last year in MX2 World Championship...

I love these guys that are constantly riding because they love riding dirt bikes Smile Contrast this with some riders who only seem to touch a bike as part of their job description. Guy Cooper is the perfect example of a gym who just loves bikes and riding. Great job to Febvre!

I don't think Romain ever raced Supermoto professionally. He may have done a couple of European championship races, but as far as I can remember he never actually raced at Grand Prix level in Supermoto before switching back to MX. I hear commentators often refer to him as a former Supermoto World Champion which is way off, although he definitely has the ability to make that happen if he wanted to. To beat the world champ in your only Supermoto appearance of the year, on equipment that is was not of the standard of the TM's is pretty darn impressive

but he has some impressive wins in supermoto , in 2013 he beat worldchamp Mauno Hermunen and riders like Thomas Chareyre .. very impressive as he never like you mentioned raced it professionally
Van Horebeeck is also a pretty good Supermoto racer

Febvre was a supermoto champ

2007: French 125cc Supermoto champion
2006: 2nd French 85cc Supermoto Championship
