Looking for a good parts source for honda 78-80 cr 250 parts any help.

New? Used? hard parts?

FYI - 78-9 virtually same, the 1980 was a center port engine, plastic fuel tank, diff. pipe, etc.

1978-9 parts are Honda part code "430" (some 1980 parts are as well).

1980 part code is "467". You can put those in search engines or ebay etc.

Some parts are still available from Honda.....some.

Looking for band clamp for air filter. Rear wheel dust covers/spacers. Sprocket bolts and nuts. Hard to find stuff.

Found some wheel parts at babbits. Air cleaner parts and spacers/bushings seen to be non existing.

Are we doing a top flight restoration or building a race bike? You can get a set of sprocket bolts just about anywhere. Which wheel spacers do you need as I have a few misc. bits laying around. Get me a rough diameter on the air cleaner band clamp and I will look.

If you are using it as a race bike, may I suggest you toss that whole crap trap of a filter cage assemble and run one of the one piece clamp on Twin Airs? You can thank me later...

Do you mean the clamp band that holds the air filter itself or the clamp bands that hold the filter to the carb and the carb to the inlet? We have the carb bands in stock. (Proper ones, not jubilee clips) Along with wheel spacer kits, the brake plate spacer/dust covers we make to order.

Should have those things, maybe not an extra filter clamp (filter clamp, not housing clamp. Those parts do show up on eBay regularly, though not the brake panel piece so much (may be one on eBay now).

BTW, get used to those asking prices for 78-80 CR250 bits that are NLA. If you're serious, or sick like me, figure out what the rare bits are and do a daily scan on EBay to see what comes up. Sometimes things come up and are priced "reasonably," at least relative to people wanting to strike gold, and its good to grab stuff then even if it's not needed right away.

That's how you end up with one garage wall stacked with boxes of old NOS and used parts. Blush In recovery now . . .

When that '80 cr got here I started it up and rode it about 700 yards. Took the seat off and it didn't even have a filter in it!
(yeah, I'm dumb)

I'm now the proud owner of one of those Twin Air filters.

Thanks to all who has replied with help. I'm finding parts at babbits, dc plastics, and a few other sites to including ebay. Parts are arriving and the resto will start soon. Keep info comming.

DC Plastics? Are you ordering fenders and side panels? Be aware that they have a dull and grainy textured finish unlike those from VMX Racing which are slick and shiny.

These filters are way better than the stockers but I found on my 79 model the carb bounces up & down eventually tearing the inlet manifold as it is unsupported at the rear, The filter or the rear of the carb needs something to hold it in place, I cut a piece of rubber sheet to fit inside the airbox where the original filter assembly bolted up, bolted it to the MX Fox ring then made the hole in the centre the same size as the airfilter boot,fixed, cheap & easy, A guy on ebay was selling wheel spacer,axle & engine mount kits amongst other goodies, shiftdvr was his username, I got some things from him,good stuff.

Wow looks good. I'm concentrating on swingarm rear chain guide and rollers are what in need now. I have all new bushings and bearing.

If you don't have a garage full of RC parts from that era like Newman and some of the others on here head to Phil Denton Engineering for some cool stuff. Just received their bearing retainer and swingarm pivot bolt. Nice stuff, my credit card might get a workout this winter for the 80 cr250.
