2005 cr125, very slow

Got this 05 cr125. It was super slow. Got a fresh motor, top and bottom. Had cracked exhaust port. Still slow. Is it the power valve or what? I need help, im racing the 20th and would like power lol

Yep. You can do some things like airstriker carb and porting. I just picked up a 96 cr126...it is much faster than my 04 was. Like unbelievable. Wtf was honda thinking

it has a aftermarket carb, and v force reeds, just will not hit the powerband at all.

well that sounds like a stuck power valve or another mechanical issue. I mean they do have a powerband.

Check to make sure you have the power valve governor set up right.

Idk about the Hondas but on my KTM I can remove a cover and watch the power valve move. Not any little caps like that on your CR?

Also, whats your squish? Jetted right? Reeds aren't chipped?

144, deck the cylinder, air striker , 100% race fuel. Best you will get out of it.

i run straigh vp 110, and have that carb with v force reeds. its the powervalve im sure.

whats the squish? and i have it jetted for the pipe and reeds. reeds are brand new. cylinder is ported and polished too.

They handle great but the motors just aren't gonna be a Yz, Ktm, or even a Rm. They can be good motors with a lot of work. The best one I had was an 02 with and 99 cylinder punched out to a 134.

If porting involved raising the port windows, especially the exhaust port, primary compression will be lowered. That is where setting the squish comes into play. Porting with a stock head is sure to feel like mashed potatos as far as power delivery is concerned.

ok i did, i dont know what mine is, but it has like 184 psi compression, i cant remember exactly

Compression sounds good, but you shouldve seen how to use solder to measure the squish. And did you ever check the power valve?

You can take the pv cover off and run it to see if it's working on the cr.
