I would like to start off by saying Robbie Madison is a bad ass who probably has to carry his balls around in wheel barrel.
However!
I do not think Pipe Dream is the gnarliest thing that he has done. I say this because of his prior achievements.
Seriously....His Arch De Triumph jump was insanity. His jump down the ski slope? Absolute madness.
But him riding a bike on water, regardless of conditions, is something I feel I could persuade my buddies to do after a six pack of Coors Light.....I mean honestly I doubt any true moto guy wouldn't LOVE to give the water bike a go.
Understand I realize the talent it takes to pull that off, I am just saying his other stunts required more skills and balls than this one did.
Flame on...
What Maddo did on a MX bike in surf that big was foooking insane , riding a stand up ski in surf that big would scare the hell out of 99 percent of people that can ride them, but to do it on an MX bike that doesn't even float was simple madness
"It was the most violent ride of my life," Maddison says. "My goggles were ripped from their strap and the fenders and levers tore off my motorcycle as it was dragged across the reef. When the first wave picked me up, it hit me in the back and knocked the wind out of me. Right then, I gave up. Everything went white and peaceful ... and then I popped up. I had a split second to take a deep breath and then I took another wave straight in the face and tumbled across the reef. I took four of those before, somehow, I popped up and the jet ski found me."

Not putting Maddo down.. it's a cool idea and looks fun.. and the wave running was very cool. I would like to get a closer look at the 'ski' they developed.
I noticed that he ran a pretty tall paddle on the bike. With sleds, the taller paddle can actually pull the rear of the sled into the water more... most guys only run an inch or so lug for efficient water running... I wonder if the same would apply on a bike?
Here is the bike
First off, there wasn't a motorcycle that could ride the surf. Anybody else seen these things at their local track?
Second, the surf itself is treacherous WITHOUT a 250lb motorcycle that doesn't float. People don't swim in that surf. There's a reason. Heck, experienced surfers don't surf in that stuff. Yes the bike floated but it was more of a danger than a help. It only floated enough to keep it from sitting at the bottom of the ocean forever.
We'd all like to try it on the local lake but I doubt more than a couple on this board would ever attempt it on surf like that. It's easy to say you would, not that you've seen Maddo do it but before he did, it hadn't been done. Most of us would ride to the moon and back now. But in 1950 you would have thought they were all crazy.
Certainly a very aggressive tire. My guess is with Red Bull backing this experiment they tested dozens of tires to see what would work best for propulsion in water.
Pit Row
Don't get me wrong it was crazy for sure, but due to the craziness of the utterly insane shit he has done in the past it kind of crowds over this.
For me, it was cooler because of the feat of what they managed to make the bike do, rather than what he did on the bike.
Let's see a jetski go from wide open on land and enter the water at full throttle...
I was impressed by this stunt.
No way in hell that is successful on a four stroke. Yet one more reason four strokes suck donkey dick.
Carry on
