Anyone running one of these on an MX bike? I seem to remember RC running one on the RM250.

I used them back in 2009 on the Stealth Pro and loved both the Podium shock and Neezer's (Mike Marquez) revalve of the forks. The icing on the cake was really the Hinson Slipper Clutch. The slipper clutch didn't make it to the magazine test (slpper clutches don't perform well on dynos) but I raced this bike to a 2nd overall (4-4 moto scores) on a very muddy very rutted REM course with huge braking bumps.

I have never ridden a bike that handled as well as the Stealth Pro.

They tried one. If I dig hard enough I could find the photo.

Anything done to the shock other than the correct spring, and clickers?

I had my 06 rm250 set up with a fox podium shock. overall it was ok I liked it in California but back home where I ride I preferred the stock back shock it doesn't have such a dead feeling. same setup on my rc version 250 I have now and it works great !

I opened up the box from Fox and put the shock on.

Notice the safety wired grip and Boyesen Shok Out. Shok Out really helped my left wrist. ARC levers and perches from my friend and fellow racer Bob Barnett. Bob AKA BBQ Bob and I used to have some great battles back in the day.

Way worth it if you're replacing a WP.

I'd love to see it then, considering he rode the RM250 back in 2005 and I didn't see the Podium shock on a bike until around 2009.

Correcting myself now, 2009 they were on Star Racing's bikes but I forgot about Gavin Gracyk running one in either 2007 or 2008?

I believe i had them around mid 2006 or so. Not sure who they were available to or who used them but I'm 99% sure they were out there before 07

I prefer a re-valved KYB or Showa shock to be honest...

Shock is unreal, IF I was running a team it would b on all the bikes as its really the best of Showa an Kayaba in one AND it holds more oil ....more oil, less heat_longer consistent dampening

We have used akit shocks, valved stock and podium. Akit worked great, podium was all but as good. The stock valved did not seem to straighten out as well when the rear swapped. Like the anti bottoming aspect of the podium when used correctly. The akit and podium have a safer feel to my son and I.

I stayed at Bob's place for a few weeks in 98, prior to my racing at the World MTB Championships at Mont Sainte Ann that year. I used his forks and chain guides, on my DH frames. First time I got to go to Carlsbad, as Bob pretty much raced there every Saturday.

The man's a genius, and a great bloke. I've been meaning to contact him, visit him, but it's a long time between contact.

Know / knew Neezer, as, up til 2006 I did Fox suspension in OZ, but got ripped off by people I worked with. I also worked with Fox during the seventies / at the first OZ distributors, Competition Development, owned by Steve and Jan Meadows, Americans from The Bay Area - Steve was a Bultaco enthustiast ( I think I still may have some Bay Area Bultaco stickers I got from him) . It was the start of my MC, Bicycle, Suspension career, though, I was already making Bicycle frames - I turned up at some of the earliest BMX races in OZ in the 70s, and kicked the hell out of their riders they had on Mongooses...... They got me onto them, and then me making bike frames for them.

I'd like to try an RC3, on my PDS'd CRE500. Been meaning to 'bother 'Neezer for a while now, but not having talked to him in a long time, it might be a bit presumptive. I'd like to compare it to the TTX I use.

The work I do in Europe and the US now, stems from contacts I made at Fox (and other companies over the years) but Not with Fox, directly.

It's a small World, isn't it, Rock?

For sure it is a small world especially in moto.

Here is what Neezer replied with a week ago. Sorry for the delay but I've been WFO but finally had time so here you go:

RC went down to Costa Rica for a Suzuki Distributor event. The Suzuki Distributor is a FOX SHOX distributor. They asked me for best guess specs for the shock and fork… just sent the spec sheet down to them and they installed it for Ricky.

Ricky advised the Distributor that he could not allow photos of him on the bike with the FOX decals because of his relationship with SHOWA. So they pull the FOX decals of the fork and rear shock and replaced them with Showa Decals.

I did get some feedback…. He was impressed for just putting on a foreign suspension set and it was acceptable for sure…. He advised for a race set it would need to go firmer. Well at least he did not think it was crappy!

Click here to see video… Stop frame at 3:11 and you will see the FOX RC3 shock with a SHOWA sticker on it.

Cheers,

Neezer

Never tried one on a mx bike but if I buy a sled and it doesn't have fox on it I get them for it. Great parts.
