Me too, flights are expensive just for one weekend though, plus it's the week before MXoN, it'd be an incredibly expensive fortnight. I think I'll save it up and go in 2017 for the nations.

That's what happening to the industry. Pure bs.

I was thinking of doing the RV thing. So u can reserve camping spots there? Hookups?

That sounds like the way to go
Kenny, the spots I got are NOT full hook ups. But there are some full hook up spots still available.
RV Hook-Ups spots 601-610 (15' x 30')

Grant is in for USGP, and he will be trying to show what he has to get a job. He could be a threat on his home track. Pourcel/Anderson, Dean Wilson, Justin Hill, Marvin, and whoever else decides to show up. I really think that because this race is after the nationals, teams and sponsors have incentive to do the race. Of course its probably not in the rider's contract but if the teams want to do it they can pay them the win bonus.

1 question, since we already know the GPs will be back next year after nationals, do you think that teams will include the race in newer contracts to be signed before next year? Now that there is good TV coverage and after nationals, and the teams are pretty much right down the highway, it seems like it's a low risk high reward. Especially for any rider's sponsored by KTM, Husky, and Monster (How many kawi guys will we see this year?) I know riders havent shown up in the past, but the big difference that I see is that it doesn't interfere with any of their series. Also gives riders 1 last chance to try to earn a contract, or even for teams to try a rider out for a race.

Well said. There is also more than a litttle be said about racing for your country. Also not every US racer gets to go the MXdN but here's a chance to mix it up with the GP crowd.

It's tougher than what most people think though Rock. If a team never budgeted for that race and the cost to do it....it could be pretty expensive. Every single team rider out there is basically at the mercy of their team. And if the team doesn't think it's worth it...not much a rider can do about it. We as fans would love it if all our fast guys showed but we aren't flipping the bill.
I understand what you're saying jeffro but most are based out of southern cal. So even if their sponsor doesn't foot the bill; can they not throw their bike in the back on one of those nice trucks they all seem to have and haul that bitch to the track like the rest of us. I mean shit they all did it the way at some point in their life. right?

thought all the ktm / husky riders were in for glen Helen gp? dugey, Anderson, pourcel, musquin, Osborne etc?

would be good if a few of the top ama riders did this race! good warm up race for the nations- Barcia/ trey/martin would be good to see race with the gp boys!!

as far as injured riders go, they should all be back by then anyway- cairoli, nagl, desalle, herlings etc etc

It would be awesome if the team USA was there. Like a 2nd MXdN, on home soil.

The perfect opportunity to prepare & to show their real speed before having more difficulties to adapt to a GP track.

Now if team USA win the first one, then finish 2nd at the second one, do we make the decider at Bercy including JS7 ?

Looks like no Herlings, but fuck it. I'm sure it'll still be a blast. I'll look into flying into vegas, I'm planning on starting out with the GP then driving up the coast to the redwoods, so rental car price is a big factor

Rent at an off airport location to save BIG bucks.

Brunch at the Alta Mira Hotel in Sausilito is a breath taking experience before you head up to Muir Woods or even better get to Muir Woods first thing then hit the Alta Mira on your back south. If you have time you could fit in Zion National Park before you head south to CA.

I'd love to visit Zion at some point, but I've only got a week, so I'm taking my time up the coast, and am planning on flying back out of Crescent City, that's where I'm finding the rental car rates go way up, switching airports. I'm hoping the in town rental car stores are much more forgiving

Just about shit my pants looking at rental cars this morning... $250 a day?!?! I realize I'd be dropping it off in Crescent City, but holy shit. Not going to the GP unless I can find one for under $50 a day

I'm in. I sounds like there's a fair amount of participation from U.S. riders this year. We should see some riders in who'd normally never be around for an MXoN.

Just out of curiosity why Crescent City? Have you ever been there? Are you a tweaker? Just curious, went through there last year on a bike tour down the coast and thought it was the biggest shit hole of the whole ride, which included a gas stop in Arco, Idaho!

And yeah, dropping a rental car at a different city is certain to raise your expenses.

That depends. Usual for the Nationals? I doubt it. Usual for the GPs? (Back by Bud's Creek) maybe.

I'll have to see what the GH crew has available. Smile

The Redwoods! Just booked my flight and reserved a car. Going through an in town rental facility was $1300 CHEAPER than the airport location! Highway robbery!

So should I bother getting tickets in advance, or just buy them as I roll up?

Anyone going to the race tomorrow leaving from LA?

I'm looking for a ride. (I dont mind in split the costs, gas/parking etc)
