I have rode one and was not so impressed it made me want to go and sell my 08 CRF 450. May be a good year to wait a year for a new bike, of course my bike is totally dialed in for ME may be a different story with some time on the Kwacker.

Have not rode a 09 CRF yet though.

I love my new '09 KX450. I rode a friends at Monster Mountian a little while back and fell in love. The chasis sets up better for my riding style and it feels lighter in the corners. The trottle response is so good that it feels like I have move control over the rear from coming around on flat turns. I did need to have my suspension done. The front had a little chatter coming into the turns and reshimming the forks (via Pro-Motion) set me up just right. My 1st race is on it is coming up on Dec.6th and I am feeling pretty good about it.

Dirt Bike said '08 450's needed pistons every 20 hours. Maybe the '09 will be better,,,,,spitcoughcrackboom

I think it won based on its powerful engine, but they did say the suspention was hard to dial in. They said the Yamaha had the best suspention.

Well, I m a huge kawi fan, but i wanted to give the fuel injection system a year to work out any bugs and see how it performs for a season. So I went with a new Yamaha for this season.

How do you like the Yamaha?

Yamahas are the best suspended and best handling bike for your average rider IMO.

The 450 is a little weak off the bottom but that is fixed easily.

I have my Honda set up as close to a Yamaha as I can get it.

I really like it. Love the suspention, and I think it handles well. Motorcycle-usa.com's description of it is pretty bang on, BUT what I would add to that is, the engine really opens up if you take off the stock Exhaust system and go with an aftermarket. In most cases its not a huge deal, but it make a big difference on the YZ450F. The stock muffler is too restricive trying to keep it quiet.

Racing @ 101MX this weekend. Really fun and fast track. Has a 110' single to table tap that is pretty fun. Big track!

I had and '05, '06, and '08 yamaha and loved it. They were extremely reliable and the suspension was better off the show room floor than my kawi.

I just feels better in the turns on the kawi. The yami ALWAYS wanted to push in the center and exit giving me no confidence in the turns. The kawi feels so much lighter everywhere.

The yami engine needed work to get it off the bottom. I had high compression piston, up 1 tooth on the rear, FMF mega header, and FMF ti4.1 exhaust and it still doesn't have what the kaw does. I actually went down a tooth on the rear for the kawi, it was ripping my arms to shreds all stock except grips.

That being said I know many rider that could get the yami to turn just fine. Rear steer kind of riders I guess.

The way I have my Honda working is kinda like a Yamaha that turns AND has motor. Suspension still sucks compared to the Yammy.

I will be the first to admit I cant outride the power of a stock 450 on a track, but it is sill fun to play with big power.

Yeah, the Honda FEELS fast but really all it does is tire you out. The Yamaha does not FEEL fast but you are hooking up and turning faster laps for longer.

Yammy is a lap time motor which is good.

Pick your favorite color bike and go with it. Shootouts are a joke. There are to many over thinkers when it comes to bikes.

The yammy has a lap time motor??? Now that's the dumbest statement about a characteristic of a bike I have ever heard to date.

I realize you are obviously a little slow but what is it about a lap time motor do you not understand?

Smooth, controllable, tractable power with less wheel spin and more forward motion equals lower lap times and happier forearms for 99% of MX riders out there.

You can actually ride the bike as hard as you can instead of hanging on for dear life...

Do I need to break it down further?

Break it down?? Funny shit you are saying kid.

I have ridden for 20 yrs and there is not much i don't know about bikes ect.. I have owned them all. I forgot more on the shitter this morning than you will ever know about moto scooters.

This might surprise you but if you get tired on a Honda after 5 or 6 laps you will also get tired on your lap time yammy or what ever the hell you want to call it.

Are you sure you are not Swap??

Yes, it is a moldy substance that won't come off no matter how hard I scrub. Home brew type of mold. But if you don't have the my secret formula for growing such mold RK chains makes one that looks VERY similar.
