Thats because i currently ride one, you tell me any guy here who rides a brand here doesnt support the brand they ride FFS

Its just another honda bashing thread like the electic start one... you can guarantee if i start a yamaha, ktm or suzuki bashing thread it would go to dumbgeon very quickly, that wont happen with a honda one lol

Anyway....i look forward to my honda bashing next year when i am on a kawasaki, joining the crowd

lmao dammed if you do dammed if you dont, a lot of dislike here for honda and a lot of comments saying they will do something when they havent even done it yet...negative nancies !! lol I guess if they produced a 2 stroke everyone would hate it anyway despite people hating them for not producing one!!!

My Opinion (and on topic)....good on them for looking at options for a clean 2 stroke if indeed that is what is proposed.

I'll post this years mini classes results for you for Lorettas...
right so because he said that its never gonna happen....you arent serious right?

What has Lorettas got to do with producing a DI 2 stroke FFS ????? get on topic dude

I think that design may be a modified version of the "Atkinson Cycle" engine?

The Atkinson cycle engine is a type of internal combustion engine invented by James Atkinson in 1882. The Atkinson cycle is designed to provide efficiency at the expense of power density, and is used in some modern hybrid electric applications.

The crank design looks similar? More info on Wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atkinson_cycle

Read the title of the thread, It's about Honda's two stroke plans they don't have any... They'll put that fucker
on the shelf instead of building it, no one else can use this design either... I would love to be wrong...
It a shame Honda knows what's best for people...

It's a shame Honda is so against the 2 strokes. I have always been a Honda guy but its getting harder and harder to find clean used CR250's (my bike of choice) and at some point I will be forced to make a change.

I agree with you, Honda would rather own the rights to it and do nothing than to actually pull their head of their ass and build a "next level" two stroke. If anyone could do it, they could, but unless something changes that's just not going to happen.

The new smoker design (if it is actually legit) will probably end up on the same shelf as the "Ribi" fork.

so on one hand you are saying it wont happen and on the next you are hoping you are wrong.... lol

Honda know what is best for their sales, not sure why they owe it to anyone to produce what some want. Honda are in the business of selling their products just like any other manufacturer, so of course (like other manufacturers have done) they patent stuff...Kawasaki recently patented supercharger stuff, that means other manufacturers cant do the same idea...does that mean you should be saying they are a bunch of wankers?

Does Suzuki know best too? i.e. they don't produce a 2 stroke at all, like Honda.

Laughing . Oops. No one's perfect kiwifan, Just some are a lot closer than others.

My engine builder Isn't Impressed. Said it looks like an Industrial engine. (quote) Can't see it being anything other than an industrial engine based on that design.

Lawn mower engine could actually be correct Grinning . Mind you, they have 85 really good reasons to put it in a bike.

Looks like a 2 stroke diesel motor.

A Push Rod Motor how advanced

FYI, thats not direct injection... Some of the patents have the injector in the transfer ports where as others have it after the throttle body right before the reed valves. So I'm not sure what the fuel injection plan would be here, but nothing I saw was DI.

Whats really interesting is the variable scavenging port timing. Looks like they can control the start height of the ports in order to change the timing. Very interesting but this has never worked out well to my knowledge in real application. Just adds to many more moving parts so the cost and complexity outweighs any benefits.

Lastly I know someone asked about oiling the crank since it was fuel injected. Engine would for sure have an oil pump of some sort, also need to get oil up to the cam and valvetrain.

Its very out of the box, but is it realistic to ever see production? I have my doubts.
