Haha!! No...no friend of Bob Hannah, at least back then! Laughing

Their battle at Saddleback put a lot of the "aggressive riding" by today's standards to shame.

Kent was a incredible rider back in the 70's. The only other rider from Texas that could come close to him in career accomplishments was a guy named Steve "short stack" Stackable. Not sure of the reason but Texas, although they make everything big there, they could not make MXers worth a shit.

A good example of this is when Kent, who was by far the best Texas ever produced, went at it with a California boy (for some reason Calif not only produced the fastest riders but also the hottest chicks) named Bob Hannah at what has become known as the Saddleback massacre. Hannah was coming off of a severe leg shattering that almost ended his career. Kent was riding a at his peak and was mounted on a incredible works Suzuki that day. Bob was on a overweight and extremely slow piece of shit Yamaha. Hannah proceeded to demolish Kent that day even though Kent was on a far superior bike. I am sure this happened because of where Kent was born.

California MXers = fast as shit
Texas MXers = sucked ass

How about this Texan Steve Wise. no AMA rider has ever accomplished SX, Motocross and Superbike wins. Got on the podium in his first TT national by squaring up and railing off the Class C boys giving them major fits.

Kent is the guy who pioneered feathering the clutch out of a turn, back when he was on Husky 500s.

This was before he gotted Suszuki or vforce.

Forgive me for I have sinned!

You are correct. Steve Wise was a freak of nature and probably one of the most talented all around riders. What he did was pretty amazing. He must have been born in Ca and then moved to Texas at a very young age Smile

Although a long-time Suszuki rider, Kent finished his career on a Kawi.

Kent and his son Derek are regulars at CR and are pretty friendly characters if you stop and talk to them.
Of course, they are all about the KTMs now, both on 2 strokes.

I'd rather chance being fooled than to be derogatory towards someone that doesn't deserve it.
Is your ego that fragile?
