I just don´t understand the mentality of C or B guys whining about some former A guy stealing their trophies. Of course its nice to get a trophy, but the only trophies that matter are in the elite classes. I just don´t get it why someone wants to be a pro b rider? And the OP is definetly sandbagging if he´s getting podiums in the B class and whining about someone who he beat himself! Laughing

I am a B rider myself (in Finnish MX we have a bit different system, B class was the lowest class last time i raced MX). I would rather be 25th in A class than on the podium of the B class.

In Finnish GNCC I moved myself up to B class from the Hobby class, because I felt like I belonged there even though we didn´t have a points system at that time. The B class often started behind the A class and ran the same time in races, so the results were comparable. I always checked what my result would have been in the A class and I was always very happy if there were A guys behind me (who didn´t DNF of course). My chances to move to A class are pretty much gone, since I started riding as an adult and now have a family so my time on the bike is very limited. I have about 10hrs of riding in the last two years including two 2hour GNCC´s and one 2,5hour Enduro race, so I´ve raced more than I have practiced Silly

The point is, don´t whine about someone else, just be the best you can be and enjoy the sport. And if you´re mad about someone beating you, get of the computer and go train for gods sake!! Woohoo

That's D16, they let you race what ever you want...Seen former A riders racing +30 B/C and mini riders that went to LL racing C class the next year, same B riders in top 5 every year, etc.
And then have a flawed system where +40 has to be trophy and can't be money payback even though there is no "skill" classification. What +40 guy wants another trophy...

I love complaining about sandbaggers in my class as much as the next guy. But I can honestly say I don't think I've ever heard a single person complain about sandbaggers when they BEAT the "sandbaggers" they were talking about. haha

..and yes, I understand the point of your post as you've reiterated it a few times. They previously raced A class so why are they allowed to now bump back down to B class and race you. My point is, you beat them. So who cares.

Did I ever say anything about taking trophies? I get a shirt or track money any chance I can. I said I beat them to, I didn't start this topic to complain that someone is to fast for a class or anything like that.

Yes I know I shouldn't have said sand bagger because its not the case. But where does it end? What about my friend who races in the same class or all the other people they beat? My friend says the same thing, why are these guys allowed to race b class now?

You all can say I'm whining or complaining but I'm racing the class I'm suppose to be in.

What if I got last place? What about the top kids in c class who run my pace or faster? At a local level, don't even get my started on c class at the ranch.

I'm just saying it shouldn't be so easy to drop a class. Sorry for making it seem like I was whining because that's not the case just stating my opinion. I've read most people on this site complain and bitch about things that have zero affect on them. Perfect example, the hangtown track. You're not racing it, it doesn't affect you.

I don't think you're whining, it's common in New York and New Jersey

I looked back to 2008, He self advanced himself to A on 8/24/2008...

He bounces around between A+ 25, A+30, A+35, B+35, B+40 and a couple others... VET A also...

races mostly @ Aztalan, I see MOST of the time the district doesn't give him any points, when dropping down to (B class, which

shouldn't be a problem, as long as it's not any type of national qualifier... Racing in B not receiving any points is one thing, they

shouldn't be giving the B class trophies though to him, (taking away from true B riders)...

Biggest mistake I saw was Millville, he got a 3rd overall & there had to be quite a few bikes because he received 18 points.

Millville must be out of another district other then district 16 for him to receive points...
Yes Millville is D23 the whole D16 is filled with sandbaggers unfortunately. The Racer X vet series is the same way with sandbaggers.

All you people that are acting like it's no big deal to drop down from A to B to race and are giving the OP crap about "whining over a plastic trophy" or that this might be OK because they don't get points......might want to remember that there is this thing called contingency money that gets paid out that comes into play as well.

If you're an A or Expert class rider.....you're an A rider, period.

I moved myself from B-to-A in 1975.
I raced A-Class for 37 years.

Three years ago I dropped myself back to B.

"local race in +25 B"

Okay, there you go, problem solved. Doesn't matter.

To answer your question, no it's not legal. But it's not a big deal so it doesn't matter.

It is what it is, just found it weird that there were a few guys in my class that raced A class within the past few years.

But by your logic just because it's local racing means that you can race whatever you feel like. Should I cancel my ama and sign up for C class at the next race because it doesn't matter?

Personally I feel like they should drop the letters and just have all age classes, as long as two open classes for any age, just split by displacement.

I should have said people who drop from a to b class, not sand baggers.
Well atleast in b you have less chance of getting run into and hurt. Being that you are in a +class I assume you work. Making it to work on Monday is a good thing.

I think A, B, C, novice.......in the vet class are dumb. We had some races in Ohio last year with decent 30+ turnouts. Like 35 riders. Jeff Gibson and Willy Browning were two of the riders. They already had a 30+ and 30+ beginner. A few people got mad that Gibson and Browning were racing 30+ at a local race now it is 30+ A, 30+ B/C, and 30+ beginner. Definitely takes the fun out when you split it into 3 groups.

At the local level it should just be age groups and run what you brung. There just aren't enough riders to go around for all the classes.
