I live in an appartment in one the of the beach towns in San Diego. I'm looking to get a bike again this year but i'm running into storage issues. I live in an appartment with no gerage space so i have little options and I was hoping some one can help me.

First I was just going to get a bike rack for my car and store my bike in a local storage center but when I went to a couple, they don't allow motorcycles because the gas in them is a fire hazzard. They said I could keep it there if I drain the gas out of it everytime but that just doesn't seem feasable. On top of that, the storage place looked like it was going to be $120+ month.

My second option was to buy and enclosed trailer and park it on the street. The $120 a month and the cost of the bike rack would pretty much be the same as buying a trailer and I could kill two birs with one stone. I like this idea the most but it's also one of the riskiest because the odds of the trailer getting stolen can be pretty high. My Jeep was broken into on my block so my area is prone to theft. To get around this, I was thinking about getting the trailer, and then isuring the trailer and its contents. Also was thinking about having Lojack installed and locking it up pretty well.

My third idea was to get the trailer and find a storage place where I can store the trailer and thus not have to worry about it being stolen. I checked one or two places near me and they don't have trailer storage but i'm sure there are places that do.

So anyone have a suggestion about what I should do?

Option 3 sounds the best. Portable Garage. The only worry you have is the larcenist minded punks of SD County.

You could try and find a riding buddy and keep it and thier place ? Are you south or north coastal?

You don't say what kind of dirt bike you have but you might look at the area where you ride and see if there is a motorcycle dealer that might let you rent a space to keep your bike or even if you know any of the local riders and see if you could rent a space from them.

Drain the gas out to avoid leaks and vapor smells. Wait until late at night, and bring it into your apartment. Put cardboard and plastic under it to protect any carpet. Nobody will ever know.

Yes, I have done this.

What kind of motorcycle rider are you? The answer is always simple, of course!

and I don't want to hear about how you live upstairs so it would be too hard to get the bike inside your apartment. Here is a how to video..

(and yeah, the squealing brakes drove me absolutely nuts too)

Putting it in the house is the only option
