Im 26, out of college, have a degree in business, a job with that degree, and own my own side business, which despite getting piss poor effort out of myself in the last year still did 40k in revenue. Not bad for yr 2 ,especially since most of it was in the first half of the year (both yrs in the 40k+ range for revenue), and l am currently expanding into other related ventures.

Unfortunately, money doesnt grow on trees or I would be expanding quicker. Student debt and a new truck dont help.

But if you can afford a new truck it may appear your wallet is getting fat off your part of the business, so I think you should pay more to whoever or whatever your cash output is so you are treating them right. Because after all "Not all business men are in it just for the money, the best business men know that if you treat people right they will take care of you"

I bet the dealer sold the truck to you at his cost because hes a good guy also who does not just care about the money.

But you are so quick to condemn both FELD and DC for their wallets getting fat and you have no idea what they have invested in their business or what their profits and expenditures are. Whistling

I think it's great to help the privateers out this way to chase their dream, but I also don't think the top 20 in each class should be living paycheck to paycheck. I don't know the overhead to put on a SX race, but I would think with ticket prices and merchandise sales the top 20 should at least be living comfortably. It was mentioned earlier that 20th in the 450's gets about $2000 and in the 250's it's like $650. I think the 450 purse would barely cover expenses and the 250 purse is even worse. I know there are contingencies and other sponsor dollars, but if that isn't enough there are problems.

Personally, I don't think anything will change until guys quit showing up and there aren't enough guys to race. As long as guys can show up and race, it will stay the same. I have no problem with the GoFundMe accounts, but I don't think those are a long term solution. I think the only way the real privateers can make a change is if they hold out for money and stop showing up until something changes. I don't see an easy solution to the problem.

Just my opinion, and I don't think there is any problem with fans helping out if they can and choose too. I just don't think guys scoring in the top 20 should even need to be struggling for support. It is a shame that a rider of Lamay's ability is having trouble getting support for the national's. He has been riding pretty well.

JB Hunt the trucking company has to raise truckers pay because all of their drivers keep quitting and they can't get anyone.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND!

The reason why this country used to be so great is because he had FREE MARKETS!! unfortunately it isnt like that anymore but you get the point

What are you trying to say?? You have no point? I am growing my business right now. My goal is to eventually be self employed and pay people a fair wage and give them jobs they enjoy.

I see how some of my friends and relatives struggle with not so great jobs and jobs they hate and I would like to help as many people as I can, so long as I can at least break-even, even if that means I am never self employed or never personally benefit from the business, as long as its not in the red.

FELD has been doing it for years, if they weren't making (good) money they wouldn't be doing it.

Rather than just sit like a bump on a log, I started crunching the numbers to get an idea of what they bring in from one event and their expenditures, I chose to do Indy and have been using numbers based on attendance, renting Lucas oil stadium, etc. gonna keep crunching numbers this week.

I thinks it's a very generous thing to do. Think the guys the speaks the loudest should be happy no one went ahead and set up a gofundme for every privateer out there. don't say anything you can't back up.

The point is that you wanted to tell FELD and DC hold to spend their money just because they are successful with their business even though its non of your business. Why are you crunching numbers for any race ? why do you care how much they bring in at any race ? why dont you tell all of us how much you make ? and then we can tell you how you should spend it. They are in business to make money just like you are and just because they make more its non of your business to tell them how to spend any of it.

Fuck JB Hunt, they're one step above CR. England. Supply & demand is for food, clothing ect.
Free market is what we got, it's just not fair market.

Nascar has seen some cutbacks too.

Nascar driver salaries have been shaved in recent years with fewer dollars available as sponsors cut back on their financial commitments to teams. Drivers that once made $4-6 million in salary are getting re-signed to deals for $3 million in some cases. Guys on poorly funded teams are lucky to make seven figures. Licensing and endorsement money has also dried up for all but the very elite drivers. Endorsement deals that once paid $500,000 a clip are now $250,000 and many have disappeared completely.

But for the sport’s stars, the paychecks are nearly as big as ever and can reach eight figures in salary alone. The 10 highest-paid drivers pulled down $170 million in 2013 in cumulative salary, endorsements and their share of winnings and licensing income. It is on par with what the top 10 made five years ago. There is a scramble among the teams to sign high profile drivers that consistently end up in the winner’s circle and make the Chase year after year, garnering valuable TV time for sponsors. These drivers can still attract big sponsorship dollars and will command top salaries. The big drop off in income comes after the first dozen or so drivers.

Leading the way for the sixth straight year is Dale Earnhardt Jr., who earned $25.6 million in 2013 by Forbes’ count. Earnhardt’s licensing income is down significantly from five years ago when he was making $30 million a year, but he is still the sport’s biggest star with the biggest salary, as well as the top licensing and endorsement income, according to sources.

I don't know what riders in the 12th-20th place make with clothing and other sponsor deals either. I would be curious to see what a rider like Ben makes (or doesn't loses) by racing. I would also be curious to see what FELD, etc. make as well, because I think the riders are the biggest one's getting screwed since they are the show.

Maybe Im in the wrong business and should start promoting events.
When you're calculating your numbers, don't forget about this.

MX Sports Pro Racing is once again making our annual contribution to the Asterisk Mobile Medics, just as Feld Motor Sports does for supercross, donating $130,000 to the medical unit. (Our donation will be slightly less but still over six figures, which is the number Doc Bodnar and Tom Carson told us they would need to stay on the road for the 12-round motocross series.) We do not charge them for their sponsorship of the series, nor do we sell sponsorship to another knee-brace company. In fact, we pay about $10,000 per race for them to be at each event.

At the end of the day I feel FELD and likely MX SPorts underpay the riders. I mean come on, $576 for any position in the 250 LCQ. Why couldn't it be $750 or $1,000?

Why is the winner in the 250 class only getting $3,350? That is a joke. I went through the payout and upped the numbers to where I felt the riders should get and came up with about $100,000 more than they are paying out now.

It is what it is, I disagree with how much they pay out and out of curiosity Im gonna look into how much they spend for an event like that, how much they bring in, etc.

JB Hunt as well as all the other bigger trucking companies prayed on students from truck driving schools. They were given goverment money to create jobs to fill positions. Now when these drivers get a few years under there belt they can move to other companies for more money.

Im not crazy.... Im not greedy either. I will admit Im not conventional in my beliefs on business and how to treat employees, but personally I believe I will be MORE successful because of that.

Time will tell how I do in the business world, but so far its been very positive.

Time will tell how I do in the business world, but so far its been very positive.

Kiddo,

Your gross assumptions and "Negative Outlook" toward those that've managed to keep the sport doing well at the Pro level? Well, that speaks volumes.

JB Hunt as well as all the other bigger trucking companies prayed on students from truck driving schools. They were given goverment money to create jobs to fill positions. Now when these drivers get a few years under there belt they can move to other companies for more money.
Yep, spent a year @ the great pumpkin, heard the jokes...

speaking of that, what do you get when a JB. Hunt driver leaves a truckstop?

Maybe you guys should try & help him get a sponsor, call around, trucking companies, 5 hour energy.

I mean, the guy is fast...

exactly

JB Hunt the trucking company has to raise truckers pay because all of their drivers keep quitting and they can't get anyone.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND!

The reason why this country used to be so great is because he had FREE MARKETS!! unfortunately it isnt like that anymore but you get the point

Earnhardt’s licensing income is down significantly from five years ago when he was making $30 million a year, but he is still the sport’s biggest star with the biggest salary, as well as the top licensing and endorsement income, according to sources.
umm...supply and demand exists for labor too

why do you think engineers get high starting salaries out of college? because for every 20 liberal arts grads, theres 1 engineering major.

and guess what..what you're saying about only the creme of the crop getting paid while everyone else is getting the shaft..the same thing is happening in the business world.

business is realizing it's worth it to pay excessively for top talent and that the B and C players deserve the pennies they get.
