As I recall...The A, B & C engines were almost identical with only a few parts that were different. It should work.

The 76 engine looks like the 77/78 but is different . It has a different bore and stroke . The clutch may work but shows different part numbers

Correction. I just got a 76 rm 100 basket and its different . Shallower depth for one less friction and steel ,and one more tooth on the drive gear (63 instead of 62) . 21200-41301 should be the basket you and I need. They seem harder to come by. Clutch plates are the same. Unless someone knows how to fit the shallow basket in a 77-78 rm125.

You should be able to switch out the clutch basket and the crank gear as a set and make it work.

Hello, I did switch out the crank gear from the 1976 RM125 and the clutch basket with the plates. It seems to turn over just fine. I also used the tranny gears from the 1976 also and put that into the 1977 cases." I believe this should work".
I was under the impression that the 1976 lower end was the same as the 1977 and 1978. The cases are physically different on the 1976 where the smaller crankshaft is used. The 1977 and 1978 RM125 uses a larger crankshaft and different bore and stroke. So the top end is totally different too.
I still can't try the bike and run the engine for another month, just wondering if the parts could work.
