Anyone have any good riding stories about KTM exc and good trails to share.

I have two EXCs (400 and 525) but no good stories.

I might have had some this weekend but had to miss out on a nice ride with some friends in Suches, GA. Everyone was staying here.

Gonna do my best to make it next time.

I see you are from Bakersfield. I'm picking up an adventure bike from socal in a couple weeks, going to ride that sucker home hopefully offroad as much as possible. Looking to pass through the Tahachapi pass on up to Lake Isabella and staying in the western Sierras.

Know any trails I could take around those areas?

Up north a bit there is http://www.davesadventurecycles.com/rides/ they put on one and two day rides. The Greeley Hill to Oakhurst looks fun.

x2 on ADVRIDER, that is the palce to be for cool stories and amazing photos from all over the world! I am looking forwart to retirement in 2 more years so I can take on those type of rides. Lots of fun!

I rode sequoia NF on my 500exc the other weekend. Pops lives in South Lake with the Piutes in his backyard. It did not suck.

The trails up by Lake Isabella are very good. I'm not much into riding asphalt, so I rank the area by trail technicality and condition and the Sequoia's we're pretty awesome. Me and a buddy rode the N. Piutes one day and then the Greenhorn's the next.

Here's trail 34e31 up Long canyon




This trail climbs a few thousand feet quickly and there's a few gnarly switchbacks/step ups that will have you working. This trail had my rad fan working overtime. And then once up top it was sweeping single track for miles through meadows. And it was 10 degrees cooler.









We went into the Piute's from Long Valley and then dropped down into Bodfish and rode 178 back to South Lake. My favorite trails here were 34e31, 44, 45 and cold canyon trail.

Day 2 we rode into town, gassed up and then down 178 to the Greenhorns. Entered the trail system and rode Kern Valley trail to the west for a ways before heading north into the mountains. Here's Kern Valley trail:








This was on a trail called 'bull run trail', which was excellent. And pretty difficult in sections





After bull run we rode north (and off the map) and west where we picked up trail 31e59, which brought us back to Rancharia Rd. and then Hwy 155 into Wofford Heights and then to Kernville brewery for some well earned food and drink. Good trails here were kern valley trail, bull run trail, mud hen creek and just outstanding.


If you want more adventure type dual sporting then load up and head to the eastern sierra. Ride from Bishop airport up woodcutter trail and loop into the bristlecone pine forest (@ 11' ASL). or ride from Mammoth to Bodie. Or head east into Yosemite. For harcore trails check out the white mtns and/or the sweetwaters north of Bridgeport. There's some truly epic stuff in both of these areas.

I turned my 450X into a rally/dual sport bike. So far I've been pretty unimpressed with riding roads and reading road books.

I went to Green River, UT over the weekend for a fun rally but only rode Friday's stage. We left early but stopped in St George and rode some super gnarly single track on our rally bikes (4 gallon tanks, road book holders, computer stuff, saddle bags, 15/47 gearing, etc.) It was pretty comical flying by dudes on their nimble trail bikes.

I didn't bring a camera but we did all these trails...

Anyhow...before I got all excited about posting pics, I was saying that just because it's a dual sport, it doesn't have to be boring.

I'm going to start making (extreme) rally road books for my friends. Lol. I'll include some roads and some meage, so you'll have to be streetable with a bigger tank, but then I'm gonna throw some good shit in there too!
