For us to acknowledge that the GP series is legit ....and that's understandable considering most of the negative shit posted on here for a number of years. They have been able to gloat about the past few MXDN wins and have been slowly gaining the respect of the american posters. I suspect that their occasional bragging has primarily been a reaction to the lack of respect given to them by us for many years. I would like to acknowledge that both series are equally fast and competitive and that the top riders from either series would do well....given some time for adjustment.......in the other series. We all have a certain bias towards wanting our series riders to win..... but I have to admit that guys like Kenny and Marvin have grown on me and I find myself routing for them. They deserve everyone's support when there such nice guys. Perhaps it's time to stop the "our series is way better than your series" and just enjoy the great racing.Wink

The history and story are more complicated than that, but, yes, it would be nice to enjoy motocross without stupidity. Don't hold your breath.

I agree

Thing is you can never compare the two, they have different style tracks, soil is different, climate is different, bikes rules are different, formats are different, rider styles are different....a true rider comparison can only happen at MXDN and then with a dose of salt as some tracks suit riders differently as it might be like euro tracks or like american tracks....etc

I just enjoy both types of racing and never say one is better or worse.

Goes way back..like when Americans couldn't buy a win against the Euro riders. Then Johnny O jumped over David Thorpe on a 125 and its been pretty testy every since. There was no interwebs to blow up back then but when MXA called Thorpe "the worlds fastest intermediate"..well you can imagine the response.

I totally agree with the OP. It's motocross, not some egotistical cold war. The GP riders are amazing. The MX national riders are amazing. You are amazing at something, just not motocross...

I'm a Kenny and Marvin fan as well as many other MX'ers. But to me they are the first foreigners to do well here without a cocky attitude and so for me that makes them easier to follow. Been following the GP's since about 2008 and enjoy the racing and no doubt those guys are legit.

It would be interesting to have a one off event where all the pro's show up and see who makes the main event. I know we have the MXDN but I'm talking everyone instead of just the 3 best riders from each country. Just a thought.

Probably the most sensible thing i have read on here in weeks. Give that man a round of applause.

We are all fans of the sport we love. Lets enjoy the racing and knock the Euro/ American crap on the head.

I personally think RV taking part in the MXGP has been the best move for the sport in years.
US fans are now tuning into the GPs and European viewers are tuning into AMA....win win for everyone.

It is such a shame that most threads on here are spoilt by a few (on both sides of the pond) who have to turn it into the same old pointless debate.

It's really not possible. If it were, people wouldn't hock loogies on James Stewart's parents at races.

It's just a fact of life. Park way out in the corner of the parking lot, dont make eye contact with anyone... it's really the same as going to the gym.
