What ive noticed over the last five-six years of Aldon's riders is mental strength above all else.

All the top riders have similar talent, speed, work ethic, and they're all in similar physical shape. To a point. They all have their own training programs and regimens they put themselves through. The strength, training, moto's, nutrition side is all a fairly well known science at this point and I highly doubt that Aldon has a secret potion that no other trainer has or knows about.

that leaves the mental strength game. We've all seen the very best top riders have emotional meltdowns. Its pretty well known they're all also basketcase's when it comes to being mentally strong. The top ten guys are about as emotionally stable as a 12 year old rape victim.

What Aldon cultivates is a mental strength and maturity to enforce in his riders that they know they are the best. The results prove this over and over again. His techniques are also very demanding on the rider and require absolute focus and concentration and pushes all other outside distractions out of the picture. THe level this sport is at now requires nothing else.

Instead of sitting on the starting line hoping for a good start, and hoping for a good finish, how much of a difference would it make for a rider to sit there and honestly, TRULY, believe that he IS going to win. He IS going to holeshot. that he IS the fastest rider on the gate? At the very top that is what makes the difference. Thats what aldon's training provides.

I could also be totally way off and have no idea what I'm talking about. Wink
But! Tongue . Look at RC, RV, RD etc. The riders he has had the most success with would easily be the most disciplined riders in the sports history.

I'll be more Impressed when he takes someone, that's not hand picked, from the rear end of the field and puts them up the pointy end, consistently, for a full season. But we know that won't happen don't we? Until he does that, you're all just pissing in the wind.

Funny you mention WP. I was thinking about him while posting. And this is what I thought. From where I'm sitting. Looks like WP is doing just fine as he is.

I'm guessing you wouldn't have mentioned WP if you couldn't see the obvious Improvement he's making already. Still getitng over an Injury Isn't he?

I'd bet you'll see WP win an outdoors race or even maybe several, with or without AB's help.

Johnny O' started coaching RC before Baker and is a fantastic coach. A. Baker started training RC 2000ish and in 2001 he dominated MC and Supercross. RC's did not need help with "speed" his fitness and focus were suspect prior to 2001. It would be very ignorant to not state the following, as much as A. Baker helped RC JS and RV, these riders helped A. Baker. Baker, RC, RV, and Dunge DEFINE refinement. The is a circle of learning and refinement.

In my opinion, the top coaches are following:

- A. Baker
- Carmichael's
- O'Mara
- Bud Man
- Ryno
- Ward
- MFT

If RJ dives in, he could be a wonderful coach too. I speak with candor on Canard's program, he has one of the fastest bikes, he is the fastest rider (check out times) but the remaining parts of his program are suspect. His race craft is no where near Reed and Dungey. Dungey has gotten better with A. Baker. Coaching helps with refinement and learning ---- not only in moto, but also all facets of life.

Good post!!

But Tongue . RC was always going to dominate. He always had the self belief, discipline and determination.

RV came into the sport as a hot prospect to be a future multiple champ. It's no real surprise he was/is.

RC4 has said MULTIPLE TIMES that he needed some one to crack the whip because he didn't have self discipline... he was chubby before and after Aldon.

If I paid someone 80 to 300 grand a year.....Id train just to feel like I got something for my money.
Most mxers fuck around too much. He limits the fuckin around time. Playstation and shit like that.
Waste of fuckin life.

I train for the pussy at the gym. Bro, dost thou even hoist? Thats all the motivation you need.

IMO Aldons no whiz. All his "athletes" talk about how they eat at all these joints like Chipotle.
Real athletes dont eat that crap. Tiger woods looks like as much an athlete as his guys.

So. You think someone without ample self discipline can be successful under AB's training schedule then?

bd's posts were worthless before he set aside his Ignorance as well. Com'on mate, have a think about it.

Worthless is big stretch. I am big supporter of good coaching. That said, I do not think I was clear in my past posts. RC and other riders had the talent prior to coaching. The coaching assisted in maximizing the talent.

It it just a coincidence?

James/AB split - results immediately suffer
Kroc/AB split - results immediately suffer
RV/AB split - results immediately suffer

Dungey/AB join up - Dungey starts dominating!
RV's results immediately suffer? Compared to what? He has not raced MXGPs before and we are two races in.

Yes, 1st race was a disaster, 2nd race was much better, but 2nd moto you could literally tell RV was spent and had nothing for AC & CD! When was the last time that happened, especially after RV got a 4th place start? FYI, RV had more time this year to get ready and be in shape for a series than any other time in his career!
Except villi actually started 9th in the second moto. Those darn facts.

But yeah he did look a bit more spent than normal but also keep in mind that he didn't have as many days to acclimate to the weather or time change.

Your asking the wrong question. With A. Baker in his corner, RD5 would be better than past RD5? The answer is a reassuring YES. We have no idea if RD5 would beat RV. Why would RV fire A Baker..... he still uses his program

There's no doubt in my mind RD#5's at his best ATM. But Tongue , if you take notice of how well that bike's hooking up and railing the turns you can clearly see It's a Team effort. The bike, and rider are very well dialled in ATM. As a Team, they're killing it. AB's just another good asset to a good and very well run Team.

"A tradesman's work will only ever be as good as the tools he's provided with to do the Job". ATM, RD's got the best tool box in the paddock.

Would be a shit hot race to see though wouldn't it. I wouldn't even be willing to place a bet myself.

Every guy Aldon has coached to a championship were champions before him. The biggest reason Ryan Dungey is winning isn't Aldon Baker, but rather the fact that they guy who has been beating for years is riding the GPs.

It was stated that a riders race craft is better with him, really? How is Jake Wiemers race craft, or Tyler Rattrays, or Jason Anderson's?

Like I've stated before, if Johhny O'Mara would've moved to Florida like Ricky wanted, you'd all be gushing over Johhny instead of Aldon. When Johnny introduced them two, Aldon wasn't a trainer, he was an unemployed 10 speed racer.

I agree that the majority of the talent AB has worked with had all the right stuff. However they were diamonds in the rough. Not one of AB's riders were as dominant before working him, as they were while they were working him. It can also be said that none of them have been as dominant or consistent AFTER AB as they were while with him. The wildcard to that last sentence is going to RV in the MXGP's. however RV is still receiving some form of help from AB.

Now keep in mind Jake Weimer. A 250 champion before AB. Trained with and used the same techniques, equipment, nutrition, and training as RV. results? poor at best, and certainly sub par for a factory B rider. If you ask me, his performance during his three year contract with factory kawasaki was unacceptable, keeping in mind his injuries and such.

AB is still human, and his techniques will not work on everyone. JW is proof of that. However generally speaking they do work. RC, JS, RV, are proof of that. We are also now seeing the results with RD.

How does that tie into your statement of taking someone from the bottom and helping make them a dominant champion? Simple. Success breeds success and there is a polarity that is now inherent to AB that will not ever allow AB to take on that role. He is now a victim of his own success. In a capitalistic society his services will go to the highest bidder. A rookie nobody or bottom dweller simply cannot afford AB. Unless of course AB decides to be come a philanthropist and work for free, or next to nothing.

As per my previous statement, I believe AB's greatest weapon is his mental strength conditioning. There is a saying in the car racing world, "the loosest nut is the one behind the wheel." That same principle holds true to motocross, and all forms of racing in general. With that said, the one thing that RD has been missing all these years is his mental strength. I certainly don't want to sound like im bragging or come off as a know it all, BUT lets just say my irons are stoked a little closer to the fire's burning within some of the factory teams. I'm here to tell you right now, that KR, JB, and RD are about as weak as a new born kitten mentally. The episodes they have while testing, and while racing, are nearly cataclysmic. You dont hear or see about it because its treated like mushrooms. In the dark and fed sh*t.

Its no secret in this industry that we can give one of the best riders in the world an identical setting from his last practice session that he absolutely loved and felt amazing on, and the next session he says its crap and change it back. Regardless of all the mountains of empirical data and evidence, riders are still HUMAN. Fallible, and susceptible to any number of outside influences or distractions. The teams have no choice but to listen to the rider because they're the ones riding the bike. Not the team manager, not the mechanic, not the suspension guru who just spent two weeks on dyno's creating the best suspension setup in the world. They all know what the rider has between his legs is superb.

The key is convincing the rider of that. Thats what AB does. He does not accept a rider blaming anything, or anyone, other than themselves for whats happening on the bike. Once you get a rider at the top level of this sport over that hump they are absolutely unstoppable.

Again. I agree with pretty much everything you are saying. I'm not debating that AB Isn't a great PT and life coach, I'm debating the "magical potions" aspect Laughing Wink .

You can bet he will never put his riders on an intensive MTB regimen.

you guys are acting like people are saying the success is 5% rider 95% aldon, when really its the other way around. like yall are saying, these guys would still be the best riders on the planet without him. but to say he doest add just that little bit extra is ignorant... and basically your calling all the people that ride for him idiots, since there apparently wasting a shit ton on money for no reason.
Nup. That's not what I'm saying at all. Yall. And, at least what I'm saying isn't of offence to the rest of the Team. Ironic!

Pity. You started off being so right but ended up being so wrong. Your mental strength faded fast. That's Ironic as well.

Actually when he was in Tallahassee mountain bikes were a pretty big part of his regime, Central FL doesn't lend itself to anything worthwhile as far as MTB

What exactly are you implying here?
Ahhh, 10 speed racers are a bunch of drug cheats. It's an undisputable fact. The sport's about as ethical as Grey Hound racing. What, I'm gonna tarnish the sport more than the people who compete in it with my comment.

Com'on mate. Get a sense of humour. It should have been obvious it was Intended as "tongue in cheek".

Rd always had great corner speed ect big difference I see is speed n consistently great thru the whoops, last year rd struggled in whoops...
New bike or new trainer???
