Just looking at the highlights
What im seeing is guys are NOT moving over for Ryan and some are actually gunning for him to take him out
Much unlike how he was often treated here in the USA

If you put yourself in a position to be "taken out" then you deserve to be "taken out", and yes, they are not going to be easy on RV or anyone else for that matter, you wanna run with the Big Boys you better be a Big Boy.Snivelers need not apply.
In a way that's true , and as stated Im just going from the few clips I have seen
However
Both clips showed Ryan getting basically run off the track
I usually look at the MXGP Highlights and very very few times have seen this type of action
Personally I cant blame the other riders for riding harder against the new guy who everyone is watching
To me Ryans only shot is going to be getting better starts and running upfront with his peers

He'll learn that when fighting for a position you do not run wide on Philippaerts, deDyker, Searle, Desalle, Bobryshev or Butron unless you are a idiot, it's not dirty riding, they ride a very wide track and it's your job to pass and their job to stay in front of you, simple

I haven't followed the AMA races but I imagine you have riders who have particular tendencies and the other riders know of these tendencies and adapt to them, all I'm saying is the GP's have riders who have tendencies also and RV will learn to deal with them, it can be of a advantage knowing how a rider will react in any given situation and being the one who is attempting a pass you can use that against them. It just takes experience and track time against those riders, no doubt he'll learn quickly, it's his job. simple.

yeah I kinda chuckled to myself about that, cause Phillipearts or Phillippeaearts or however you spell his bloody name and Butron are fairly well known to be aggressive and hard to pass, and RV experienced both in one race..

you could ask Tedesco about Philipe.. David

I'm going to say
AC
Desalle
Nagl

To be honest, I was really hoping to see more of the rv we saw here in the states just obliterating tracks. But as the day went on I got more and more quiet and less excited as I realized how out of sorts him and his bike looked. It was my first year to have an mxgp subscription, really enjoyed seeing the euro guys and how they attached things. Fingers crossed rv gets some things sorted and can at least get up and dice w the top 5.....that will take a lot of improvement in just one week though!

I watch them but following is boring, sort of like watching a commercialized reality show. Don't get me wrong but it is so predicable and candy fluffed but there are occasional moments of greatness but I find myself watching and saying " these are the guys who are trying to win the MXoN" and I just can't see it happening until it returns to their AMA comfort zone tracks. They are good and have a nice time in the AMA bubble in the talent pool available. Question: where was all the chest thumping when they did have the chance to ride with the Big Boys at the Glen Helen GP a few years back? Excuses currently being accepted..

Not a lot of guys chiming in on this one!! Wink A lot of tails between the legs??

I do know that RV better have a better showing than last week, because if he doesn't, he is gonna lose touch with the points leaders - no one is gonna wait for the American hero!
RV will go about 5th overallish. Lol.

3,4,5,6. Anywhere in there. Might squeak out a moto win as I think he's got the speed. Just needs the start and a clear track.

Going to be hard for RV to make the podium unless someone performs miracles with his bike setup and Ryan's mindset. Qatar looked to be the most "American" of the GP tracks so if he can't keep up with the leaders there how will he on a real GP track. That shithole was like watching the Utah National.....except with faster riders

MXGP: 1) Nagl 2) Cairoli 3) Desalle 4) Villopoto

MX2: 1) Herlings 2) Covington 3) Tixer 4) Ferrandis

Yeah they do ride a wide bike. But i'd say they will ride an even wider bike because its Villopoto.

Butron is like the Alessi of GP's. The dude always gets a decent start but ends up being a road block.. eventually getting passed by most riders.

Hey "big boy"...... heads fucking up, Mike Alessi raced the MXGP Regulars at the last USGP and competed very well finishing 2nd oa. Lets be frank, Bubba, RV, Dungey, Canard, Barcia, Tomac kick Alessi's ass. In the recent past, the reason why most US stars did not race the USGP is due to scheduling - fell in the middle of the Nationals. This year, the Glen Helen MXGP happens after the last National.

Do you believe all the shit you type?

Why would butron ride a wider bike because its villopoto? Thats plain stupid.
Maybe paulin would because he wants to beat him after getting kicked out of the kawi Team because RV just came over and wanted a different teammate.

And with the butron thing I'm pretty sure it was rvs fault, butron probably didnt even know there was someone trying to get in the same rut coming from the outside...

I can't wait to see RV at matterley basin. Ac goes very well there and I think of all the tracks RV will go the best here. Also he will hopefully have a good set up by then. I did expect better things from him at Qatar but as he has won so much I doubt he listens to many about bike set up and just does his own thing. Which obviously bit him in the arse as he looked terrible. What does everyone think about his aggressive riding style and gp tracks because he looked well fast to watch but got gapped by a rookie from the mx2 class in the 2nd moto by 8 seconds. That's gotta hurt

I predict that I will probably be slightly hungover on at least one day whilst there.

I swore I would never line Luongos pockets with my money but Villo made me do it!

Hows that stupid? Im pretty sure nearly every GP rider would rather see Villopoto not win the championship… .

Well, as for Matterley Basin, Villopoto raced the Nations there in 2006 and did great: a second and a third place on an MX2-machine. Long time ago, but obviously that track suits him.

I think Thailand will be better for him and also Argentina. Between those two he almost has three weeks of testing time. Arco di Trento is also a pretty narrow track, but I believe that his starts will be back on track by then.

Obviously Cairoli started the season a little slow, but just didn't want to get injured in Qatar, that was even more sketchy as past years imo. His tracks have yet to come, and I think Thailand is one of them, last two GP's there he went 1-1-1-1. Different track now, but the climate is the same. Nakhonchaisri will be a survival of the fittest, something Tony excellences in.

Hope RV can get closer to the top, should only serve the championship well.

well let's say I THINK it's stupid Wink

I don't think the riders do anything different apart from the top guys maybe stepping up their program or trying harder because it's nice to say you can beat Ryan Villopoto. But I don't think riders like Butron who don't stand a chance at beating him will make a difference between RV or any other faster rider.
At least from some guys I know they don't care about the whole Euro/US stuff at all and just try do their job.
Maybe if RV was talking shit about the riders and acting disrespectful, they would try to prove something - but RV isn't like that

Or do you think US riders try extra hard to keep riders from Europe (Tonus recently) behind them? I know I don't

Butron is like the Alessi of GP's. The dude always gets a decent start but ends up being a road block.. eventually getting passed by most riders.
Kinda agree. Butron does always start upfront and ends up backwards. Passing him is not always easy cause he fights hard for his position. Which is normal I think.
RV also found out that Philippaerts is hard to pass. De Reuver was commenting on TV here and was laughing, he said, "to pass Philippaerts you have to pass him at least 3 times to make it stick." Same goes for Desalle...
It's not like al these guys are very hard to pass, but Villopoto found two hard ones. If he starts upfront in Thailand he wont have that problem.

Looking at the track pictures again it's a real shame they couldn't (or wouldn't) get the old track back from last year. No one wants to go out there in the first place I know, but at least the old circuit had some things going for it - few up hills etc. We'll see I guess.

I'm laughing. Now everybody is taking Nagl seriously in there predictions. XD
anybody that didn't has never kept up with the GPS's, he's a threat anytime - all season long if he doesn't get hurt, which he usually does Sad
