Seriously, it was a quali. Looking at the lap charts, it seems to me RV settled into a consistent rhythm, on the leaders' pace, the last 4-5 laps or so. If I was a coach, that's exactly what I would have advised, unless he holeshot, before the gate dropped. Everything's copacetic. Wink .

yes he did, but he was up very fast. Only lost 3 positions. He was in 6th when he washed his front end. was 10th when he came up. Lost one position after that. then worked his way up to 8th.

Desalle is a damn beast though. Definitely a threat.
I'm confused, first off before a actual race with the GP fellas RV was touted as" Intensity from the beginning and lasting all race, something the Euros aren't use to". Now it's "he's strong at the end"? I think it seems more like RV's race intensity is more in line with the WMX lap times. Let's hope he can step up and give us the show everyone was crowing about, we already have enough top 10 guys in the mix this year.

This was basically a heat race right, like the type of race MA800 can win yet not even be on the same lap in the final that counts? Maybe put the pitch forks down for a bit...

Lets not make excuses for RV. He didn't perform very well in either practice session and now has a mediocre gate pick. This was not the RV that smoked DeSaille by 30-40 seconds at a neutral track in Tenessee in 2013. Maybe he hasen't made the proper bike adjustments and maybe he just isn't up to speed. Or maybe DeSaille and the boys have improved dramatically. Probably all of the above....but that practice is a wake up call. And all you guys who think he is going to just flip the switch and pick up a couple seconds a lap are likely delusional. Yes... his fitness will allow him to gain some positions but the speed has got to be there.

There is that Grinning Apparently Steve Gutteridge said in the MXGP studio show that RV said he was surprised how fast everyone was so early in the weekend. Not many would've predicted hearing that.

Gutted for Searle though, all that hard work to pick up an injury in the quali race.

Qualifying timing said a lot today,top 15 within 2 seconds,with the times so tight,as is the case so often in the GPs it would be tough for anyone to blow through the pack so fast,especiallyin a short Moto like that,it's only qualification too,even if it's good psychologically to do well

Hopefully the track will throw up some more lines and great racing tomorrow Smile

Are you sure they show all motos? I don't get this to line up, I think they're showing MXGP race 1 delayed and both MXGP+MX2 race 2 LIVE. Not sure if you guys in Australia have the same broadcast as we do on Eurosport in Europe. Just a heads up.
