In his professional career, the only times he's crashed out of a season was in 2010 and 2012 (still won title). Nine years as a pro and only crashed out of two championships. Pretty good track record if you ask me.

Shoot, even Reed has crashed out of more titles than RV.

I dont want to say I agree...but I think there is a 50/50 chance RV gets hurt trying to win the championship. When you go that fast all it takes is one really hard get off.

That was the point I was getting to, the real GP tracks are unforgiving and all it takes is one mistake and it's over or at least a nagging lingering injury where a rider is only 80% and still riding and just keeps irritating the injury, You can look back and see that the top 10 GP contenders have had recent multiple seasons of nagging injuries but they all look in tip top shape for this upcoming season.Even the best riders can make a small mistake, Micheal Pichon at the peak of his dominance had a career ending injury (multiple torn knee ligaments) while idling around during the warm up laps before a GP race.

If he doesn't finish the season my answer is yes, Tony goes down also and has ridden with nagging injuries, he's human also most the time :-) Tony has his work cut out for him even without RV there, everyone seems healthy this year and a lot of the contenders are strangely on one year contracts this year if you get my drift. Another consideration is how much full throttle competition time the riders spend on the track during a GP weekend as compared to track time of a AMA event, something RV will have to get used to, it took Zach O a long time to get the hang of GP timed qualifying , small changes in the AMA routine RV grew up with plus extra laps in close rider competition equal more opportunity for mistakes on a ever changing non groomed track. It might not be a RV mistake but another rider's mistake could involve him.

Agreed. No supercross 17 round "warm-up" to deal with. No "all in 1 day" format with hardly any riding time on the track. This could actually be a very, very refreshing change for a guy used to a 29 round, 8 month grinder of a schedule.

RV still won't make it through the season intact, he'll have some good showings and be very competitive and win also but teammate Rattray will throw in the towel before half season and RV will soldier on until the Championship is out of his reach, but he did step up and leave the comfort zone of the AMA series, gotta admire that.
