3 pages and going over an interview at a local race. That's some serious interest for a rider that's no longer relevant. If he wasn't a legend already sure as hell Vital make him one. And it's not even off season.

Something tells me JLaw spent or lost all his money, & now lives in Grandparents basement.

Nonetheless. He is a cautionary tale. I myself have never seen this "second to none talent" a lot you see.

Bad Form, Body Positioning, and Technique.

I don't think I've ever seen JLaw ride with his elbows up...

You don't have a clue....I gotta laugh tho. Seriously you're going to criticize his riding style? Guess you can do that from watching videos. Laughing

hah!

love the riding tips coming from a dude going through a corner with his elbow dropped and looking at the camera for a picture

Wink

just pullin' your leg, don't get upset.

he's definitely a cautionary tale. not everyone has it in them to race their entire lives, some guys succeed and then back out of it and ride for fun. nothing wrong with that route, as long as he's happy about his choices then who are we to say what a failure is versus a success?

To be fair, my original post referring to him maybe being a legend in his and others minds wasn't right. He's seems pretty down to earth now days, but still some fans are a bit over the top for him (just like the fans of many other riders) I've never hated JLaw, I thought the incidents of him getting into fights off the track weren't becoming a professional MX'er, but that's just my opinion. In '09 when he lead Daytona for so long I was stoked. I was stoked that he might be becoming a top racer again, but it never developed. I simply became drained from all the drama that surrounds him. I'm glad that he seems to be happy, and I'd even enjoy seeing him make an attempt to return for some outdoors, although, I wonder if he'd do better at SX than MX.
Oh well, I said I was wrong, so there's that.

The problem with JLaw was, that he took every drug except adderall. He is a genuine example of person with ADHD. Or he took it too muchLaughing

Sponsors? After following him for a while on instagram, I have gotten the impression that he just bounces from person to person getting whatever they will give him for free.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match on the Internet, but if you read my post it mentions nothing of his speed. His speed is fine. It's not anywhere near national caliber speed of the current crop of 450 Professionals right now, but it's still better than 98% of the people that race MX.

All I said regarding his riding was his "talent" that everyone talks about in these threads? I don't see it. What makes or made him so special? It's not his form? It's not his cornering ability? It's not his ability to stay low? Mr. Kawi can you tell me what it is? Besides desire, seat time, and determination. I'm 25 years old which isn't too old at all, but I've been racing MX myself for 22 years give or take a few months. I'm quite sure I passed the 10,000 hour rule a decade ago. I've seen much, much more naturally gifted riders swing a leg over a bike than him in that time span. Hansen would be one of them. Stewart, Pastrana, BL154, Josh Hill, & Even RV. There's many more I could name, but it would be futile because your mind is obviously made up already.

In my opinion, and I do have a right to an opinion I would call JLaws style kinda 90's. He reminds me of The Rock. Not in terms of toughness, stamina, or really anything other than the way he rides the bike. He rides it in neutral position. Never over the top of the forks. Which results in him having to use more strength instead of leverage. Unlike a Hansen or JS7. I could ramble and ramble but it would be futile. All I have to say is pop in a Gary Semics lesson. You won't see anything resembling JLaws riding style.

Just because it isn't your Blueprint style though doesn't mean it's not effective for him. Although I do think it limits his abilities on the bike.

Who knows what kind of deals he has, but he is still with Arma, Spy and Alpinestars, among others.

I'd say his talent comes from his ability to navigate and see a track differently than most riders. Maybe it's the way he would hit a wall turn harder than anyone or jump into a set of whoops when no one else thought of it. That justifies talent, no? Talent isn't just form. Watch Seely or Wharton, same type style as Jason both extremely talented. And how does his style limit his abilities, I'm curious?

There isn't one "correct" way to go fast. Just so you know. You won't see anybody riding like Villopoto in a Semics video either...

Also, elbows up? Doesn't matter.

RV drops his elbows due to the inability to move his wrist more than 20 degrees. Not having a navicular will do that.

Wharton yes. Seely absolutely no. Seely looks like Tall & Lanky McGrath on a Bike IMO.

So Seely doesn't ride with his elbows down? Huh!? And again, how does Jasons style limit his ability on the bike?
