Advice on garage - Bike Mat

I just get the 3-ft wide mat from a roll at the hardware store, at around $2 per foot. I change it when it starts to look nasty, about every 3-4 years.

Damn, the flooring looks sweet. Home Depot has a heavier rubber mat that's carpeted than the one linked above. 6' x 4' and they are under 50 bucks. I got a half dozen or so of them to put under where the bikes would be and split a couple down the middle to go in front of the doors, tool box and safe. Pretty comfy too.

Two Mugens and a bad ass 1980, we need to hang out.

And to contribute, I use the Meynards matt for 18 bucks.

My name is Charlie Kouba and I am brand new to the Vital forum. I own Airprofork.com and one of our products we make are custom logo mats often used in garages and in the pits at races. All colors and sizes, all solvent and fade resistant, and prices range from $99 to $199. We can make rubber, vinyl or carpeted mats with the logos and fonts you want. These mats are also legal fuel mats often required at many off road events throughout the US. All Vital members get 10% off and shipping is free in the lower 48. We have made over 2,000 mats so far and we want to make more. Email me at airprofork@gmail.com or check out airprofork.com for pics.

Not to derail the thread but...your airpro product is a scam. Does not work! If anyone wants a automatic airpro bleeder I have one that is brandnew sitting in my garbage.

Do you run graphics on your bike?

Unless they're listing your Sponsors, they don't help you out.

Not everything in life has to serve a purpose.
Actually the graphics on my bike serve a great purpose. They protect the OEM infused graphics. At some point I will want to go back to the OEM look. When I peel the graphics back, I'll have minty plastic under there.

It's ok if you just like having a cool looking set up and don't do any serious wrench turning. For me, I wouldn't want to scrub stains out of my bike mat, or have to routinely shake it out. I understand having something soft to kneel on, but I've got a grubby couch pillow that follows me around the shop when I need to plant my knee (or my arse) on the hard floor.

Don't get me wrong, I think bike mats look good. I just can't see it helping my workflow. Maybe if the floor was a disaster it would be a good solution to covering the cracks and stuff?

Get what you want. I want one from Pro Circuit, but it is kind of low on the priority list. I use card board boxes right now. Laughing

I'm not really trying to argue with you but in your example...

Using graphics (I assume they are of some kind of moto theme) instead of just clear vinyl stickers (or some cheaper equivalent) is the same as me using a bike mat instead of cardboard.

Clear vinyl would do the same job but you most likely ordered some jazzed up graphics package cause simply because it looks good.

Good lord this is getting ridiculous. Guys buy bike mats because they want to use bike mats. Guys use cardboard because they want to use cardboard. Why is it any more complex than this?

When you get to the point that you've spent thousands of dollars cleaning up the garage/shop and put down some high dollar flooring you've kind of graduated beyond the cardboard. Another 30-50 bucks for a nice mat isn't much of a stretch at this point.

JohnnyMoto,

Please call me when you have a chance. I just read your post in regard to our automatic fork bleeders. My direct number is (208) 283-8419 and (208) 947-1141. Airprofork.com has a lifetime warranty on our automatic fork bleeders and equalizers in addition to a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Our custom logo mats also carry a great warranty.

I am very sorry you were not pleased with the performance of the Airpro and we want to make it right with you. We have had tremendous feedback on the bleeder's performance and unfortunately, we are currently backordered on 3 of the models.

I look forward to your call and I will have a check for the cost of the Airpro (plus shipping) made payable to you.

Sincerely,

Charlie Kouba
President of Airprofork.com

Sounds like Johnny Moto never bothered calling the company with any issues but just chose to bash away on the internet. No doubt this will work out better for Charlie that Johnny. Wonder what Johnnys last screen name here was?Laughing

And yeah, I'm saving Airprofork.com as a favorite. Might need me some of those mats one day.

I'm not trying to argue either....but onto my argument.

Do they offer a complete clear graphics kit for 2011+ KTM's?

I just don't see why you feel like comparing the area under your bike where dirt/grime collects to the fit and finish of someones bike? Yes, I ordered a graphics because it looks good. I also plan on returning to the OEM look, so it is protecting the graphics in the shrouds and airbox panels. Saying it serves no purpose is wrong.

On the other hand, I'm actually trying to figure out the purpose of a bike mat. Yeah they look great. I found myself at times wanting to order one myself. But then I think about what it would do for me and there really isn't anything that it would help with. It would just be a cool looking thing that is a pain in the ass to clean. And since you asked for opinions I didn't really think it was out of line to ask why people would use them.

In the pic UpTite posted, I could see how it might keep from scratching up his floor. Ok, I get that. In the case of the Dude, yeah it tied the room together, but it was also central to the plot.

I don't post much on here anymore, but Charlie is a good family friend of mine, and I can attest to the quality of his mats (never got the opportunity to run one of his bleeders though).

I've gotten to watch the mat side of his business develop from the get go, and was getting ready to pull the trigger on one back when I had a bike. I still had some pictures of them stored on my laptop.

I should also say that Charlie has a great reputation in the area.. He's a stand up, reliable guy, and I would be shocked if the customer service of his company didn't meet that same benchmark.

Man, just let it go already. You're starting to just come across as a tightwad that's only looking for someone else to validate your own choice not to buy one.
