There's a lot of racing to be done, ask again in six month's!?
I think the point of the question is that in years past, the 450MX champion and the runner up were sent to MXdN. So in 2015, does Villopoto get chosen over one of those guys or do they stick with the previous formula?

USA did not pick current world champions Brad Lackey, Tramps Parker x 2, Donnie Schmit x 2 and Bobby Moore when they won world titles, so its has happened before,

2000 MXDN, they took Ryno simply because of his familiarity with Europe. He was coming off a mediocre season in mxgp and it worked out for USA.

So answer is yes, he'd be the number one choice if he's healthy IMO.

If he's available, RV should always go. Doesn't matter if he's been racing the Oregon state series, bet he'd still turn it up.

Has poto ever lost at a Des nations? I think donnington park*? Or did we win that? He puts it down I doubt he's finished outside the top ten in a Moto ever. If he wasn't number one pick I don't know who would be.

What kind of question is that? Of course we would. Who would we send over him? We'd send our 250 MX Champion (or best American), our 450 MX Champion (or best American), and RV.

so say he does good and wants to race for USA. If Dungy is sitting say 4th-5th in points will roger leave his golden child behind for a stronger pick so that Murica can reclaim what is ours?

bare with it SX is almost here and post will return to normal with bickering over whether or not the years champ gets an *.

Nope. No way Decoster will put him on the team after getting his ass handed to him all year by the Europeans.

Different scenario as RV is currently considered FMOTP

( which is a nickname I hate)

I think you need to study up a bit on RV2. If angry RV is as fast as he's been, how fast is a happy RV?

Don't forget the '92 team won with Emig, LaRocco and Billy Liles who ran the GPs that year.

He seems about burned out with all this shit, he gives it his best in the GPs, then retires....

he is racing for $$$, what's the nations pay?

same as those top golfers in the ryder cup, shit gets old... been there, done that, he's smarter & any of them, gets out healthy
12/25/2014 8:25pm
Didn't he mention doing the des nations in one of his recent interviews? I thought he was already a go
12/25/2014 9:52pm
If he's (healthy) of course.
12/25/2014 11:58pm
I think we should all wait and see if we even want him on our team for des Nations. There's a chance he will be affected by his sojourn into Euro-land, and adopt an accent, sell his guns, espouse the virtues of socialism, become a connoisseur of fine wines, and show up at the races in an Alfa Romeo with some crumpets and tea, content with a top 5 "as long as everyone is happy and nobody gets hurt." Smile

When Ryan Villopoto is available, he'll always be selected. Whether he goes or not is up to him.

Yes we will send our MX1 world champ. What kind of stupid question is that? Unless the world champ dosent want to race!

It is my belief if he wins the MX 1 Championship or not he will retire from racing and would not accept an invite to race the MXof Nations.
12/26/2014 10:09am
who knows what will happen, lets say he finishes 2nd to cairolli in gp's by a point or 2. Just imagine the offer he'd get from Giuseppe, to come back for 'one last showdown'. I bet it would be an offer no man could resist
