Winter riding in New England for off season training?

My son and I want to keep our skills and fitness up over the unpredictable New England ( Ct & Ma area). Knowing we'll be dealing with cold temps, frozen ground and hopefully minimal snow accumulation, are there any winter warriors out there you have a program, setup advice (bike & gear), riding spots, etc to make the best of this off season?

Not many tracks here in NE stay open in winter.
Wareham MX was last year most of the winter you can check them out.

Also the J-Day series does winter events if you want to try some snow riding.

Most of the serious folks head down to North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia or Florida to ride too which you probably already thought of.

We're stuck in CT for the winter, so looking to optimize by using warm yet comfortable gear, pullover face masks, maybe hard track tires for frozen dirt, studs for snow, heated grips for mx bikes? not looking to tackle supercross obstacles, but just some practice to maintain balance, timing, hand/forearm conditioning instead of couch surfing...

Studded tires for frozen ground and snowy track are must. Hard pack tires do not work well on frozen ground. Neoprene winter gloves keeps hands warm enough. You can use hand guards to protect hands from cold air and put some hockey stick tape to levers to prevent cold metal to freeze your fingers. Technical winter underwear keeps body warm and you can pretty much use your normal riding gear with no loss of movement.

Check with the tracks as far as studs go. They are a no no at my track. Unless trelborgs. The ice screw type pull out and make for flats later.

Trelleborgs (made by Mitas nowadays) are the best tire to ride on a frozen ground. I know they are expensive but they are worth every penny. If you ride tracks with no rocks and sandy surface they will last really long. I think the ice screws are more intended to only for pure ice riding on the frozen lakes.
