Does anyone else in this forum ride their bikes in winter with studded tires? I did this winters first ride with studded tires today. It's quite not the same than riding in the summer but It's only way to get some riding done here in Finland during winter months.

Here's some helmet cam footage from today:

What happens to the back fender when you bottom out on a jump landing? A little more than a black stripe I suspect.

What is the temp? What jetting changes do you make?

Yes, we do here in AK. Usually we are able to run close to stock jetting mixing race gas. Your track looks super fun!

Studs can leave small marks on the bottom of the fenders when bottoming hard but that is not too big problem.

On the video temp is about -5°C (23°F) . I don't usually ride when it's colder than -15°C (5°F) I'm running roughly 10% larger main and pilot jet and also richer needle to accommodate cold weather.

One of the dealers in town pushes the timbersleds, everyone i talk to there raves about them.

I really want to demo one to see what theyre all about. I too am a little leery about putting that much extra strain on my motor.

5k is the price of a good used mountain sled. so there is also that.

I sold a timbersled kit and a 2014 WR450 to a guy last year that took it out west to do some big-mountain riding, and he said he rode his mountain sled the first day, then hopped on the timbersled the second day. He never touched his mountain sled again, and sold all of his sleds when he got back home.

They are incredibly fun, but incredibly different than a snowmobile. Moto guys love them, snowmobilers generally don't.

Not sure on the whole reliability aspect, but from what I've heard, they are pretty easy to set up and hold up to the abuse better than you'd think

Nothing better in the winter than a nice plowed track and new Trelleborgs. Wink
Do you guys hit the ice aswell? Racing on a frozen lake is super fun.
I usually go up a couple of sizes on the main jet at winter time. And if it's really cold you could also cover up the radiators, but that depends from bike to bike. The fuel injected four strokes needs a thermostat though to achieve correct operating temperature.

Hell ya, race din the snow at times too, Growing up in Northern Ohio/Southern Michigan we raced the Silverdome series and many times the track was covered in snow.

This pic just about says it all.

Seen this last year and it reminded me of the way we used to practice/Race in the winter.

I'm a little older (46) so I prefer 20F and above these days. Cool
I wonder if my 250 2 stroke would handle that timber sled alright?

Too much snow here to ride moto or trails, so we hit the lakes.
